Firmware updates, dictionaries, fonts and third-party software for M92

I can sum up what I thought about the new firmware update - DISGUSTED AND DISAPPOINTED.

I had named my books in series to begin with 01, 02, 03 etc, and where is the order by file name option now? The order by title and order by name look just the same, and they don't even order properly if I ask it to display by file name.

I had a problem before, if I open an EPUB by coolreader, that does not appear in Recent Documents and time read is always 0. I hoped that would be fixed in this update, and did it? A big NO.

With all these firmware problems and a display problem that leaves white patches on the scribble and annotations mode on which I cannot write, which the ONYX, China simply ignores and does not even answer my queries (they wanted a video of same, and sent one, too). I feel I've had enough with this device.

I am going to wait for another year or so, and then go for Pocketbook or such established readers.

It is just a couple of declarations

I just wanted to report few problems with arabic epub format on onyx boox m92 with the new firmware.

pdfreader : does not display arabic epub. For regular epub, it displays formatting which is nice but there is no choice to change font. May be I am missing something here.

fbreader : some files don't show and others do. For the files that show, it works and I am able to change between different arabic fonts. However, the hyperlinks in table of contents don't work.

coolreader: when selecting dejavu font, it shows arabic letters but it is impossible to read because the letters are not linked together. It is like having all letters separated by space so it is impossible to distinguish words. Also, in arabic, separated letters and linked letters are different, which makes it even more difficult to read. Changing fonts to arabic fonts does not help. Another thing that is not directly related to arabic is that it does not show formatting (bold text ,...) while pdf reader does and it is very nice when reading news.

Does anyone have any idea on how to fix this?

I found a bug in the firmware : 1.7 (1.7.20120726).

I've configure the device to open the last document after power on. Sometimes, after the power on, the little wheel turns and stay present, like if the M92 was blocked.
But if you change the page, the document is displayed with a new page, not the last page.

Hace ya tiempo que soy seguidor del foro.

He instalado el firmware 1.7 2012 07 26 y desde entonces al encender el M92 me sucede lo mismo que a Randy11, tarda mucho en encenderse el equipo y parece que tarda aun mas si cambio la tarjeta SD.
Por otro lado la función de anotaciones no funciona correctamente en los pdfs pues a veces no aparece la ventana con el teclado completa (con el lector en posición horizontal o en determinados tipos de zoom por ejemplo) y además no las guarda nunca pues al ir a la opción mostrar lista de todas las anotaciones no aparece ninguna. Es una lástima pues esta función la usaba en mi M90 y es ideal para hacer indices y viajar comodamente en el libro a partes especificas ahorrando tiempo.

Por otro lado veo que no se habla ya de actualizaciones del M90. Cuando en el M92subrayo (garabatos) algún pdf, si este documento lo paso al M90 no se ve correctamente y viceversa. La pregunta es: Hay alguna actualización para el M90 que permita que las anotaciones, etc. sean compatibles con el M92? Se puede instalar el firmware 1.7 2012 07 26 en el M90?

No recomiendo tratar de poner el firmware hecho para el M92 a M90. Este es un dispositivo con una variedad de hardwarе.
Si los problemas de Uvas con el firmware actual es mejor poner el firmware 5.14

Did anybody apply the M92 firmware updates on an M92S (I believe that the M92S is a Russian M92 version with Audio and without the WIFI and touchscreen). On the Russian support side I see firmware from march this year and was wondering if I could apply the firmware from Booxtor to get the additional features of 1.7. If you happen to know, please share your experience. Thanks !

A few days ago I installed the new firmware, mostly to get the display of filenames instead of titles, which works fine and is a big help for me. I read mostly PDF files, of which many have nonsense titles such as "Microsoft Word Template". Filenames are easy to change, titles in PDF metadata much less so, so I really appreciate being able to show filenames.

I tried the new "beta" PDF reader as well, but quickly reverted to the standard one. There are some good ideas in the new one, but it's not usable in its current state for me. The idea of different modes for different types of document looks good in principle, but it takes more modes to cover all common use cases.

One of my major use cases is reading books available as PDF versions of the original print copies. In most cases, choosing "hide margins" in the standard PDF reader results in a near-perfect reading experience. I didn't find an equivalent in the new reader.

The new column-based mode would be very welcome if it were usable. As others have remarked, what I want to see is a column of text, not a quarter of a page of which most content is the margin.

Did you try "Auto-Crop"? IMO the new Auto-Crop works even better than the old "hide margins" because it leaves less space between the letters and the frame.

1 - When the option "full screen" is selected, the option is not restored after standby or power-off. After wakeup or power-on, you must reselect the option.

2 - In the configuration menu, a new item is present "View Title Setting" : this item is not translated in french.

Well, different users different tastes...

The new Auto-Crop is not usable for me. The margin on left and right side is too small for me. I draw the marks on white margin...

So, the best would be the user setup for the margin size in this mode. The best would be all 4 separately configurable.

Auto-Crop doesn't work for me. It sets the right zoom factor, centers the page horizontally just as it should, but does not center it vertically at all. It shows the top of the page, meaning the top margin, and I have to scroll to see the bottom part of the text.

Something I'd like to see in future versions is "zoom in" and "zoom out" buttons in addition to the absolute scale factors. They should change the scale factor by 5% or so. That would allow fine-tuning the scale factor, useful for fixing small mistakes in margin adjustments.

If it would not zoom to width but zoom to height, precious screen would be wasted.

my humble request is get isilo for m92 and ezpdf reader for m92. These 2 stuffs are enough for every reading needs i think so.
