Camel Club unsteady behavior
I'm reading Camel Club by David Baldacci. When I'm on the first page of a chapter and touch the screen in order to access the menu when reading it on K4Android I will be thrown back to the TOC, it is the same on three different Android devices and I haven't encountered this with any other book.
Curious if anyone else has encountered this phenomena? |

Might it simply be that the chapter heading is a hyperlink taking you to the TOC?

That is what I suspect, but it happens even when I tap on the middle or lower part of a page. If I tapped the chapter heading I would expect to be taken there, but not in the text where I'm supposed to be able to select text fro lookup.

Unless somehow the hyperlink is covering a larger area of text? You could convert the book to ePub using Calibre, and look at the HTML to see what's there.

I thought I'd start by notifying Amazon.

Checking it in Calibre will be the next step, but I have to get home to my computer befor I am able to do that. But yes, I would like to know what kind of clutz editing has been done on it.

It sounds like a missing a closing tag to me. I would unpack it using the Mobi unpack plugin in Calibre and fix it or you could do a mobi to mobi using a search and replace to fix it.

A book I read a few months ago had the links underlined for footnotes. Perhaps 15% of the footnote links were not only a number but included to following paragraph or two. It was sloppy html coding. Missing tags as Blossom says. It is bad that even large publishing houses routinely turn out eBooks that are so poorly edited and formatted. Especially now that eBooks are outselling print books in some markets.
