HELP!! Not seen this before on Calibre
![]() My Kobo touch has on a recent sync had the software etc updated by Kobo. I recently bought some books on Amazon then converted using the converter tool (vew version available byt he way for those that use it) and when I opened Calibre - this message appeared: Your Kobo is running an updated firmware/database version. As calibre does not know about this updated firmware, database editing is disabled, to prevent corruption. You can still send books to your Kobo with calibre, but deleting books and managing collections is disabled. If you are willing to experiment and know how to reset your Kobo to Factory defaults, you can override this check by right clicking the device icon in calibre and selecting "Configure this device" and then the "Attempt to support newer firmware" option. Doing so may require you to perform a factory reset of your Kobo. Without wanting to do a factory reset - anyone know what I do? I managed ok to upload my new purchases - but is this just a version of Calibre needing to catch up - or what?? ![]() |

If you connect your KT to Calibre, then select 'Configure this device' from the drop-down menu on the right side of the 'Device' button, you'll get a 'Configure Kobo Reader' pop-up. Check 'Attempt to support new firmware' and 'OK'. Everybody who updates to firmware V2 is seeing that, but it doesn't seem to be a real issue.

Its a warning message that Kovid felt obliged to add to Calibre, and frankly, has caused far more problems than it has solved.
