I'm currently reading The collected works by Max Heines volume 6. I just love his books, there always so interesting and fascinating...despite the genre.

Currently reading another indie novel, The Tube Riders by Chris Ward. The story is fantastic and although the main characters are young adults, I would not necessarily put this in the YA category.
The future here is grim and quite nasty to the young as well as the old. Looks like the author has decided to offer this story as a trilogy so you have two possible ways of enjoying the story. I'm only a third through, but if it keeps going like this it will be scoring strongly on my review site. |

I just finished "The Glass Books of the Dream Eaters" by Gordon Dahlquist, which I enjoyed. I'm now reading the second book in the series, "The Dark Volume".

That Which Should Not Be by Brett J. Talley-
"Miskatonic University has a long-whispered reputation of being strongly connected to all things occult and supernatural. From the faculty to the students, the fascination with other-worldly legends and objects runs rampant. So, when Carter Weston's professor Dr. Thayerson asks him to search a nearby village for a book that is believed to control the inhuman forces that rule the Earth, Incendium Maleficarum, The Inferno of the Witch, the student doesn't hesitate to begin the quest. Weston's journey takes an unexpected turn, however, when he ventures into a tavern in the small town of Anchorhead. Rather than passing the evening as a solitary patron, Weston joins four men who regale him with stories of their personal experiences with forces both preternatural and damned. Two stories hit close to home as they tie the tellers directly to Weston's current mission." |

Read all the books in the (Riyria Revelations), great fantasy. After that I went on to read Steven Lyle Jordan Verdant Skies and Verdant Pioneers. I haven't read that much Sci-Fi from before but I liked both books and got interested in reading more Sci-Fi. After that I picked up Wool - Omnibus Edition which contains the books 1-5 by Hugh C. Howey. This was kind of an eerie Sci-Fi story that opened up for more books to come. Not one of my favorites but it was ok.

Just finished reading Brave New World by Aldous Huxley and I'm not sure what to think of it. It was quite thought-provoking at times, but it also felt quite disjointed.

I recently finished Farthing by Jo Walton. It is some kind of scifi/murder mystery crossover set in an alternate Europe where Hitler won WWII. The Jews are still unwanted almost everywhere and mixed marriages are frownded upon. I think it reads a bit like an Agatha Christie mystery set in a parallel world and I liked it quite a bit. It is the first book in a trilogy (though it is self-contained) and I am tempted to buy the other two as well. |
