Procrastinating.
I planned to vacuum and mop the floor today and I know it's best to get it over with, but I just can't bring myself to start the chores. |

Unpacking after a glorious week riding in the mountains. Even got in just a wee bit of paragliding!

No roads going up these two, only ski lifts, but there sure were plenty of roads circling them, going between them, and providing dozens of different views of them! Smooth as silk, twisty as Christmas Ribbon Candy, with rivers and streams beside them! And more mountains all around. All those roads but virtually no traffic on them at all! It was motorcycle paradise! We rode about 150k every day except one.
We did get to go up and down a smaller mountain though... up by bike and down by paraglider! I have now joined Wilbur and Orville with my own flight! ( It might have lasted longer had I flapped my arms, but I was thrilled with what I got.) And we've made plans to return to the paraglider school in October. The owner told me that once I make five good flights on the Bunny Hill, I can fly off the big mountain. With the right wind conditions I may be able to stay aloft for hours!! I am SO PSYCHED!!!!!!! I've been reading everything I can find about paragliding now, looking into buying my own kit. We would have flown more but the actually the paraglider school was booked up solid or closed for a day and we couldn't get in. Quite by accident we met the owner of the school at the restaurant we ate in the first night. While sitting at the table I notice a high powered land viewing telescope on a tripod facing out toward the mountain where the campground and paragliding school was. I mentioned this to my wife, saying that they probably watched the paragliders. A fellow at the table next to us leaned over and asked if he could speak with me in English and I said ‘sure.’ “Do you know about paragliding?” he asked? “Yes, I really wanted to do some while we are here but the school is closed tomorrow, and booked up for the rest of the week. I’ve had a couple of lessons before, but never really flew yet.” “My name is Jun. I am the principal of the paragliding school. If you really want to fly, please meet me tomorrow morning at 9am, and I will give you lessons even though the school is actually closed. Some of my friends will be coming to fly and I must be on the ground to help out anyway. I can easily give you lessons at the same time!” I guess it was just meant to be… And talk of synchronicity, the owner of the paragliding school is a guitar player, motorcycle rider, fencer, cook, black tea drinker (imagine finding a Japanese who prefers black tea!) and leather hobbyist! This was one hell of a vacation!! Camping in a beautiful secluded forest campground, riding spectacular roads, learning to fly, eating good foods, and making some wonderful new friends.... This was a good trip! Stitchawl |

Always wanted to try paragliding. Somewhere between your adventures and Harry's vacations is the life I'd love to be living.

Waited until the temp dipped below 90 F & mowed the lawn. Humidity levels off the chart. Saturated myself with Deep Woods Off and still got chewed on by flying bugs. Whew! Glad that's done. Now off for a tall ice filled glass of ......

Pooh... get yourself a bottle of 'therapeutic dosage' "B" vitamins. Your body will only use what it needs and excrete the rest, and that's the part that keeps away the flying people eaters. I'm sure you've smelled a bottle of vitamins before. Pretty bad, right? That's the B vities that you're smelling and bugs don't like it any more than you do. Your sweat will be carrying the excreted vitamins and the bugs stay away. It works for mosquitoes, black flies, midges, and horse flies. Does NOT work against bees, wasps, or hornets. Unless you have an extremely sensitive nose, you won't notice the smell.

I've taken mega-dose B-vitamins before when I was lifting weights regularly. Had to swallow them with yogurt - they tasted as bad as they smelt. Never knew about their repellent properties. I'll give them a try!
