Betty, I'm sorry to hear that your mom will need full-time help from now on. It is hard to have to accept that from the kids, is what my mom says now. So far, they are fine, but more and more they need some help from us, just for daily errands and such - which is what I am off to do now.

I hope you have a great time on your beach vacation.

He is napping well today. I guess trying to figure out the patterns of a three week old is just silly. He is sleeping close to four hours a couple of stretches at night so I am doing well today. And he went down for his second nap 30 minutes ago.

Good morning, all. It's just one of those lazy mornings.... Peaceful. I've got a cup full of "Royal Breakfast" tea thanks to the East India Company, and a bowl of muesli with yogurt to start the day. Lots of things to do today too... Gathering gear and packing for the trip. Perhaps I'll even wash and wax the bike. No internet where we're going so I don't need to pack the computer, but I want to be sure my e-reader is fully charged... though I can recharge both it and my iPhone off the bike's battery if I need to. I installed a USB port connected to the battery for just such trips.

Lemon and ginger in my cup. It's a lovely day here and I seem to be recovering from the dreaded lurgy at last, even went for a walk this morning.

Thanks, Dreams. It's my favorite type of vacation... All we know for sure is the area that we will ride in, and the roads we hope to take. We know it's mountains, rivers, and lakes, hardly populated, and often no cell phone coverage.

It's almost time! Good morning, everyone! Happy New Week! Drinking "English Breakfast" tea, and packing tea bags for the trip. Munching on some hardrolls as we pack, tossing out more than we put in. Not much room for two people's clothing and toys on a motorcycle for a week long trip, but it's doable. Throw away the joker from the deck of cards... cut the handles off the toothbrushes...

Actually, I took the trunk off the back of the bike and we'll use a larger travel bag made just for long motorcycle touring. We'll have more than enough room for anything we want to take, so it's not as if we'll be suffering too much. Well get it packed up today, make sure of the fastenings to the bike, and we'll be all set for an early morning departure tomorrow morning. I want to be well passed the cities (Kyoto, Osaka, Kobe) before all the rush-hour traffic and big trucks are on the road. Once we're out of the Kansai area (Osaka Plain) the rest of the week will be mountain riding, exploring the Chugoku Mountains and Chibi Highlands. I like that!

Gotta go finish packing!

@Betty: looks as good as the beach near where I live, we walked there yesterday, it was a lovely sunny day. Still feels strange without a dog, it's nearly a year now. As soon as we get the fences fixed we will be getting a puppy.
