Barnes and Noble must come up with something new that hasn't been seen before in order to stay in this fast moving game. It will be interesting to see this new device.

Interesting, yes.
But I'm not sure "revolutionary" is needed.
What if B&N simpy cooked up a mildly profitable $99 NookColor equivalent (hardware-wise) and spent their time and money beefing up the reading (and buying) experience?
The name of the game is still content revenue and one way to get there is by scarfing up the low-end market. That's what Amazon did with FIRE. Only what was low-end last year is now mid-range.
In the Android minitablet world $99 is the new $199.

PCWorld was speculating and seemed to think it might be a Mirasol screen, but I have my doubts. Mirasol looked pretty interesting, but Qualcomm seemed to have fumbled its release horribly. I'd be surprised if it that was it.

Color will help her image discrimination, and a slower screen is no problem.

I don't think Mirasol is slower, but the colors are washed out, unless you are in bright sunlight or turn on the screen illumination.

But first you might want to look into add-on antiglare films for her iPad.
They are a bear to put on right (and reduce sharpness very slightly) but they are way cheaper than a new device and they seem to help outdoors usability.

The Kyobo readers are sold out, I tried to get one for $89 last week. Too late.

On the porch or garden or beach in the Florida Panhandle or even as a passenger in a car is where she wants to use it and she says color is better. (It is a customer(her) preference thing.)

I thought I had read that Mirasol was slower, but thinking about it I am not sure about what it was compared to Even so we are not talking about movies, just books and magazines.

Seaking, why would you think Mirasol is not fast enough for video? Video runs fine, though the viewing angles leave much to be desired, as I have read in the various reviews. Still a work in progress, but not bad for the first iteration of a completely new product. Qualcomm's main problem is that they couldn't get any of the big guys to take a chance on Mirasol. Well, they have invested over 1 billion in the factory, why don't they provide a free supply for a production run for one of them, Amazon, Sony, Asus, etc? They have to do something or this thing is dead.
