![]() ![]() Don't know if anything adding up to 62 works, but 60/60 definately works and doesn't seem to have any negative side effect. And since the longest "official" German word is 79 characters long (and the longest English words are even longer) I thought I'd rather use higher values. Better to be safe than sorry. ![]() |

Would 1 and 1 be okay in any of the included languages? I can't imagine that it would be... ![]() |

Depends on the rules of the language's standard printing style. If a language had a style that didn't split on syllables, then 1 and 1 would be ok. |

Mine (in a size that's still nice to read) is about 45... Doesn't matter as long as I'm rid of the hyphenations.

![]() Just curious. ![]() And German seems to split words in a different way to English. At first I was not sure if the English hyphenations were correct - some looked wrong to me though they were not... |

Just a couple of more issues with the 2.0 upgrade.
Fonts are still a bit strange with Avenir showing bold, bold italic and italic as bold, Gothic MB101 showing bold with normal weight but italic and bold italic showing as the names suggest but in a serif font. A real nasty one for me. To reproduce this, I open a book, read for a while and then power off my KT. When I power it back up, the book I was reading is not on the carousel and if I find it in the library, it shows as unread. This seems to be a regression to an issue with the original Kobo. I noticed this when I put the KT into sleep mode after reading in the evening. When I came back to it the next afternoon, it was showing the recharge screen. After connecting to the computer and letting charge and power up, I noticed the missing book in progress. I was able to duplicate this by simply turning the power off and back on. I'm also get resets on some books if I try to open them before I locate and re-open the book that I was reading when the power cycle occurred. Anyone else noticing this type of issue? Another weird bug. In the 2.0.0 software, holding your finger on a word brings up the dictionary definition of the word.
Unless the word is in the bottom line of the screen. Then nothing happens. This is with a sideloaded book. |

Ya, it works that way in Kpubs too. I was hoping it was just the way I held my finger...apparently not.

My experience with 2.0
I updated to 2.0 yesterday and got similar problems to what people mentioned here. I'm thankful this forum exists to let me know how to get around some of the issues. I've read one book since the update and overall, I'm thinking about going back to 1.9.17. My experience:
Couldn't create shelves or shortlist - eventually resolved Someone suggested logging out and then logging back in. I had to do kobosetup again but it was fine after following the setup steps. I lost my original shortlist but I have a similar list on my computer anyway, so that wasn't so bad. Hyphen issues - workaround I was getting a hyphen on the 2nd line of each paragraph, for every paragraph. The book I was reading was an ePub that was fully justified. I played around with the font and the justification setting but that didn't make a difference. Opened another ePub that was fully justified. Also played around with the settings but that didn't help. I left the setting to left-justified. I opened two more ePubs, the last of those was not justified. I went back to the two books that were fully justified and the issue was resolved! Started reading a different ePub today which is fully justified and hyphens were back. But I just opened an ePub I knew wasn't justified, went back to the ePub that had all the hyphens, and it was fine. Slow page turns This is the reason why I want to go back to 1.9.17. It was really annoying how much slower the page turns have gotten. All my books are ePubs, not on an SD card. One thing I liked in the update was the advanced settings on the font because I was able to make the font look a bit darker. |

BROWSER MAJOR BUG!
Anyone else comes across this (apologies if already posted elsewhere). Thought I would try the Browser today to see if it was any better, however if you touch the search icon to bring up the keyboard and then type no letters are displayed! Can anyone else replicate this?

Open the KoboRoot.tgz file with 7Zip.
Open the TAR inside with 7Zip. Go to \.\usr\local\Kobo\hyphenDicts\ Edit the files. Save and leave. If your computer complains about duplicate filenames or similar errors, there are files in the German and Japanese dictionary directory which use the same filename, just one of them capitalized, the other not. Just delete them from the file, they will simply not copied again to the Kobo. You can even delete everything from the TGZ file except the above mentioned folder. When done copy the new TGZ file to the .Kobo directory, the Kobo will update when disconnected and just the new files will be copied to the device. |

As a side issue, when the pop-up section at the bottom of the screen pops-up, you can't clearly see the bottom line of the text to manipulate the selection handles. You sort of have to guess as to what you're trying to hilight. Going from memory here: It would also be nice if once you have made your selection, and hit the annotation pencil, and the Touch has greyed your selection (saving the annotation), that the pop-up section at the bottom would disappear, as there really isn't much more you need to do at this point. |
