Meh. It's not like eroticizing the classics is a new thing, there's just a new trendy erotic novel to piggy-back with the marketing.

What irritates me is the term "mommy porn" that keeps getting thrown around (e.g. in the article). I can't decide whether it's meant to be derogatory to the readers or the books or both, but either way it's annoying.

It was not long ago we saw the "Book title and Zombies/Undead." trend.

My husband and I actually did take out Pride and Prejudice and Zombies from the library and the first couple of pages were funny, then it got redundant. I can see it getting pretty much that way with any "genre adaptation" of any classics. I pretty much read Pride and Prejudice alongside it and could tell which scene was going to insert a zombie substitute.

Edited to add Fifty Shades of Green Eggs and Ham.

This publisher didn't invent the idea of updating classics with erotic content - Adams Media did Pride and Prejudice The Wild and Wanton Edition earlier this year and Wuthering Heights in late 2010. It will be interesting to see if readers of erotic romance like this idea or not.
