I think that it may be more convincing if filmed with a video camera, showing the kindle. A screen capture may be less convincing...

I still need to make videos of some of my kindle animation demos too...

Sadly, I have more cameras than I can count.

P.S. I have been viral before (under a different name). I got millions of hits per hour (up to 2GB traffic per hour), losing my web hosting service for "too much bandwidth consumption". And I had a paypal donation button that nobody ever clicked.

Great idea! But I've got no camera too, so...
Also, there is a new feature behind the scenes. I've added event tracking (Google Analytics) and it's tracking installs/uninstalls... At the end of this project, I will be able to post obtained statistics.

Youtube might be a better place, than your own server with your limited Bandwitdth.
Now I'm interrested in what was your different name at that time

So, dont hesitate to take one of your cameras and post videos.
(engadget.com might be interested, too)

When a lot of hackers see the videos, some of them might also want to "get in touch" with a kindle and will join you. At least, that is my naive thought

*NO* camera? Even a simple webcam or a cellphone camera can be used to film video. Or a video camera with a video digitizer.

EDIT: You can get USB web cams on ebay (Buy It Now) price for less that $4USD (including shipping). I have used web cams for filming demos before. You may have to open the case to adjust the focus for closeups on some cheap web cams though...

Yes you can. Install jailbreak, gui launcher, jbpatch (may be not needed, but for sure), usbnetwork, figure out how to connect to the SSH with that usbnet thingy (this will help you), unpack SFTP binary, transfer to Kindle, issue following commands in SSH:

mntroot rw
mv /mnt/us/sftp-server /usr/libexec/sftp-server
ln -s /usr/lib/libcrypto.so.1.0.0 /usr/lib/libcrypto.so.0.9.8

connect to the SFTP, add the following line after the "<script type="text/javascript" src="../shared/js/wafjs.js"></script>" in file /opt/var/local/waf/browser/index.html and /var/local/waf/browser/index.html:

<script type="text/javascript">kindle.dev.setOrientation('auto');</script>

You can change the orientation within the launcher menu. If you haven't understood something, I'll try to explain it again.

Ok so im having a hard time connecting via ssh.

Im using Putty on windows 7 and it lets me type root , i press enter anter the pass mario and it will say access denied.

I tried using the Xterm but it tells me runme.sh is not found ( even though i copied it into the device )

All the steps before i think i have done fine because i can rotate the screen and i have the launcher menu but it doesnt apply to the web browser.

Thanks for the help.

EDIT: tried using framework Mario and work but because its not root account wont let me do the commands.

you can reset your password on kindle's search box with a command like this:
