But don't most of us edit the ePub before copying it to the Kobo?

The problem occurs if you have a book on your Kobo, delete this book using your Kobo, connect the Kobo to your computer and copy the edited version over:

I just synced my Touch to get a book I purchased and got the downloading software message. Looks like 2.0 is active again. Let's hope it goes better this time. Fingers crossed.

Update: So far so good. Shelves are working, stats are ok, awards are ok, none of my books have been reset as unread or 1% read. I haven't reloaded any of my sideloaded books yet so I can't speak to the slow page turns on sideloaded content. I'll have a further poke around on my lunch break but so far so good.

Just tried to sync on two Touches - one still with 2.0, and the other with 1.9.17. Neither picked up updated software.

That said, we're in Australia. It could be another staggered roll-out.

Anyone else seeing problems with the Avenir font? Text that is displaying as italicized in other fonts is bolded in Avenir.

I've just checked and I'm getting the same, John F. Also, books in Charis are now showing up as bold or bold italic throughout.

Very interested to see what the re-released 2.0.0 is like.
If anyone who sideloads books and is brave enough to update to this new version, can you please post here what it's like?

I'm very interested in the following:
1: Speed of page turning in sideloaded books (is it back to 1.9.17 speed?)
2: Speed of booting up when using sideloaded books. (does it boot as fast as 1.9.17 when using sideloaded books?)

Page turns are faster on sideloaded content, but not as fast at KEPUB. It is an improvement on the first 2.0 iteration.

the initial 2.0.0 update using Kobo Desktop 3.0 is: 2.0.0 (r41097, 7/9/12)
the new 2.0.0 update using Kobo Desktop 3.0 is: 2.0.0 (r41166, 7/12/12) ref: quek1982 7/16/12
a 2.0.0 (r41097, 7/9/12) can upgrade to 2.0.0 (r41166, 7/12/12):
1- download http://download.kobobooks.com/firmwa...date-2.0.0.zip
2- connect the Kobo reader, unzip this file to the .kobo directory, eject the Kobo
3- the update will start, less than 5 minutes. Previous ebooks, shelves are OK
Note: Shut down the Kobo and restart if the update doesn't start. The upgrade process will now start. ref kaikara

from taming : the firmware inside these two references is the same. So no need to upgrade if you have r41097.
