I gave up on All My Children some years back, but mostly because three hours a day of soaps was just too much to handle, and that was my least favorite. I started watching the three ABC soaps back in the dark ages when they each used to be a half hour long.

I had a co-worker recently asked me to convert it from mobi to epub - she is pretty challenged when it comes to ebook management - and I did. In the process, I took a look - read the first couple of pages of the first book. My expectations were low, but this... it seriously makes me reconsider my general stance of 'at least they are reading something'. Maybe illiteracy has its advantages.

Darn, I sound terribly elitist, looking at what I just wrote. But, seriously, nothing like the success of a book like this to remind you that you are, at the very least, better read, educated, and probably smarter than the median

The disappointing thing is that such cheap thrills are nothing new - but the cheap thrills are here repackaged in a new literary low. The grammar - or lack of - the vocabulary, the sentence structure, the lack of flow, the repetition... it is just terribly written. Why not read DeSade instead?

'at least they are reading something' is for kids who are learning to read and comic books are something.

Oprah's book club selections are much better, even though they are often depressing.

I would drive myself absolutely bonkers trying to figure out the reasons why many other people enjoyed something I couldn't stand. So I don't even try. It's not like my tastes are all that and a bag o' chips anyway.

Luckily, I've not yet run out of reading material I do like ... so I've never really felt the urge to start in on stuff that I'm pretty sure wasn't intended for me in the first place.

Well I used to be rich and good looking, well, at least not bad looking (once you hit your fifties things change) but I never considered spanking a women. Seems such a waste when you could be doing something that is much more fun. It has made me see some things that puzzled me a little about some of my old girlfriends in a new light. I am almost tempted to call some of them up and ask. Maybe at the time I was obtuse and they were unwilling to elaborate. I doubt that my wife would be too enthusiastic about such an approach, so I will just keep wondering.

It is horribly written. I read it to learn what all the hullabaloo was about and was extremely dissatisfied, and not just from the horrible grammar and poor dialogue choices, but the prose itself is just dull. I hate that anyone thinks they can just write a story and publish it - obviously this person did, but it makes me sad to know that's the future of writing

I'm surprised at the label "pornographic novel." Interesting; I haven't seen that characterization before.

I have not read the books nor do I have a desire to do so. Every one I know that has read it says it is explicit and poorly written, but this lady is laughing all the way to bank as she has made millions off these books and even has a movie deal. Just shows that sex sells. LOL
