KT not playing nice with Calibre?
I previously had a KK, now a K4NT. I use/used Calibre extensively, and I email the books to the Kindles rather than USB load them.
My daughter now wants a Kindle and I'm planning to give her the K4NT and get myself a KT. I've red a few comments about Calibre not playing "nice" with the KT. Can anyone provide more info before I shell out £169? Thanks. |

Calibre works fine with my Kindle Touch...no issues at all. Maybe folks were talking about managing collections? The collection plugins for Calibre will not work on the Touch.

Confirming Bookatarians' statement. No problems with KT.
Yet it is true that you cannot transfer collections from Calibre onto the KT. I hope people are writing many angry emails to amazon to have them implement that feature. Yet there is a way to create collections in the KT menu and sort all transferred books (by tacking a box) into them. Some people mind this more than others (and a search for "collections kindle touch" will probably be enlightening for you). Personally I do not mind. I do all the maintenance in Calibre, and when I drop some dozen books on the kindle, they are quickly arranged into my set of collections. Cheers Pismire |

Thanks. If it's only the Collections plugin that doesn't play nice, I can live with that. I really wouldn't mind creating the collections on the KT itself, due to the keyboard. I'd hate to have to create a lot of collections on the K4NT though!

You can create collections on Kindle for PC, then import them to the KT. That works fine.

Ah, look at that - despite having searched for that issue, I was unaware of that solution.
Wouldn't it be possible to design an add-on for calibre that does it the same way then? Forgive my technological lack of knowledge. Cheers Pismire |

To clarify - that method will only get you the collections; it won't put the books into the collections.
