Encountered another bug:
Read Book A, went to sleep mode, no cover but a page showing "A" and "epub". Went to check and tried book B. Sleep mode now showed the cover of Book A. Again back to selection, selected book A, sleep mode showed cover of book B. Now it seems to be okay, but I'm only reading book A at the moment... |

Hi everyone, just wanted to let everyone know that we have a team working on fixing some of the issues that are being reported. If you have a device that was frozen while applying the upgrade, please email me at shasan at kobo dot com and provide me with the email address you used to register with Kobo.

I sideload books mostly, I noticed page turning is a bit slower.
Also I couldn't create shelves at first, I went through the whole shelf creation process and added books, but in the end it never created the shelf. However after signing out of the ereader and signing back in it worked. So a minor pain, but not the end of the world. The slower page turning sux tho. |

So it only had to update that one small section of the screen once, not every minute. I thought it was a really nice way of handling it. |

For what it's worth, here are my experiences with the new firmware:
1) Update went fine, just like all the others. Took a couple minutes to download and a few more minutes to install and I was up and running. 2) Page turns in kepubs are really fast now. 3) Page turns in sideloaded epubs are slower now (feels like, as some have said, turning pages on the wifi). If I could pick one thing to change in this update, this would be it. 4) I miss the old clock display. Oh well. 5) I love being able to jump to Search Library from the home screen. 6) The settings balloon is great. 7) I kind of liked the carousel, but I'm fine letting it go. Overall, it's been a positive experience. Great job, Kobo team! |

It depends on the firmware version your Kobo came with (and the factory reset reverts to). The 2.0 version doesn't put those fonts on, but if the original version has them, they remain.

Clocks "R" Us
I think a small explanation for the clock change might help answer some questions:
With the addition of global search and settings, the status bar area was becoming exceedingly busy and cramped; as a result it was becoming difficult to have a meaningful amount of text in there to convey necessary messages to the user. The clock is still available under the settings dropdown with the same behavior as before. We explored many options before and during the beta and the current solution was chosen as the best compromise. Having said that we are not necessarily done here and there is always room for improvement. Last edited by MDK; 07-12-2012 at 01:58 PM. |

Margin Bug
I appear to have a bug with the fonts with respect to the margin.
I always use Georgia Font. Font size +6 Line Spacing +3 Margins +2 Justification OFF Kobo Styling ON When I turn the reader on the margins appear to be at 0 as shown in the pic below. After reading usually about 20 pages the margin finally starts working at my desired +2 width as shown in the pic below. Once the margin repairs itself, I can make it bad again by going to the Home page and then reopen the book. That's what I did to get the two pics of the same page. You can see that it messes up the number of pages in the chapter and so my placemark is a bit off. Somewhat annoying. ltr |

Except that it consumes MORE resources the further it is buried - if it takes two taps to get to it (instead of the previous one tap), that's an extra page draw to consume power, not to mention extra aggravation for the user...

Installed the update last night and things seem to be working well. I was running 1.9.17 with the tweaks plugin so I decided to do a factory reset before upgrading to avoid any potential problems.
I only have at most around ten books loaded on my device at a time so things don't seem any faster/slower to me than before and the update didn't take too long to install. The font weight issue on my epubs is a little annoying (I was using the Android Roboto font) but I've switched back to Felbridge for now and it's not bad. Thanks for the great update! |

Does Calibre work with 2.0. I just tried side loading an epub with Calibre, and my KT locked up, then went to restoring, and is now back at some old firmware version and I have to resetup, again!

Is there a reason why my wifi never works? Anytime I click it back to 'on' and sync it doesn't connect and shows an error.
The only way to do it, is to delete my saved wifi and create a new one each and everytime. This is very annoying and doesn't help me in convenience. |
