Isn't this the simplest way to commit suicide whilst in Scottish company?

*four bottles of Duvel sitting in the fridge* lalalala ![]() I caused little social shock when I went with people from drawing class (after work activity) to celebrate end of year and all women were like "kriek, cola, coffee, orange juice" And madam? Duvel! The old professor went "oh, you really integrated now" Weather update: Waaah! Sunny half a day and now pouring rain! Buckets of water... the worst I find is winter cold. Damp, humid and windy, -2 C feels like -18 C, brrrr You. Yes, you the English. Stop sending rain this way, ok? |

I'm not really a fan of extreme temperatures (they are also not good for my crappy health) and since I have a lot of free time I just read on and on. Temperatures are around 36 degrees Celsius here during the day (23-24 during the night).
It's strange but sometimes when it;s sunny or hot outside I feel like reading John Fowles or fantasy novels while I crave Russian literature during the winter. As for reading in public places, it's really hard for me. I can't focus with other people around and music/noise in the background. I'd rather stay home with a cup of black tea. ![]() |

Was out last night doing a "terrasje" and we were all saying what a warm and wonderful night it is. Five minutes later we were getting soaked, even under the umbrella, by a nasty, cold, rain squall. And you're right about the winter, the dampness creeps into the bones and ages you 20 years. I've only had the blond myself. Which I liked. |

I don't know it. I don't know many, just a few. I just stick to Duvel on the rare outings.

For winter last year I bought a big puffy jacket made in CANADA for Canadian winters. It is the first one that actually keeps me warm. Sigh. |

It's over 95 degrees today and sometimes it's just way to hot to do anything else but sit in the AC and read.

When nice weather hits, I have gardening and yard chores that often keep me from reading when I want to. I hurry to get the work done, so I can grab a couple hours on the deck if it is cool enough to sit in the sun. If it is too warm to sit in the sun, I will sit in the shade of the porch and read.
Yesterday morning our power went out. No storms, nor a real reason. It was reported to take all day. I thought I would spend the whole day reading out under a shade tree, because it was hot and there was a breeze there. I pulled out a chair and table and settled in for two hours. Darn! The power came back on. I had to go to back to working. Late last night, I found a tick in my hair! We never had ticks around here and not from my own tree. It sure was nice in the shade of that tree. ![]() I don't read in public because of the people and noise distractions. In a beach or lake setting I can, but not in stores. |

I love sitting in the sun or if it is too hot in the shade outdoors reading. Both in a park and in a cafe. Having people around doesn't bother me but then when I was a student the teacher would often have to tap my head at the start of class because I was immersed in a book and didn't hear anything. I've also been known to walk down a sidewalk reading. Also in restaurants.

Eighteen degrees Celsius is nice and warm? It's Bloody freezing! It is nineteen degrees here at the moment and I have a fire going, plus wearing a shirt, a pullover and a coat. I don't like it to drop below twenty-eight degrees. Mid thirties are nice. Over forty is OK with me, but my wife wilts.
