I don't remember the title any more, but I read a one book right before the movie was released. I watched the movie and remembered that the only thing the same was the title of the movie and the names of the two lead characters. Everything else was changed.
I still think Danny Devito would be a better choice than Tom Cruise.

You know...hmm...Peter Dinklage actually has the gravitas, the depth of voice, and the acting chops to be closer to Reacher than does Tom Cruise. That height thing is a real problem, but obviously not much of one for this director.

The trailer looks like a good Tom Cruise action movie. Looks nothing like Jack Reacher's movie.

Tom Cruise is perfect. The man is 6' 7" tall. The fact that none of you folks realize that fact is a true testament to the man's acting ability. He doesn't need CGI, makeup, or camera angles.

Why all of his directors have wanted him to play as Tom Thumb is the real mystery.

If actors had to only play roles appropriate to their size, Tom Cruise would be stuck playing Pinocchio. It is possibly a poor choice to have him play a character who is known to be physically imposing, but for movie goers who have not read the Reacher novels (that would be most of them) it will not make much difference. They will enjoy the movie - or not - based on its merits.

I still say that it's not the size (they can do things about that, I've seen LoTR), it's the voice. Tom Cruise doesn't sound imposing. He doesn't sound like he could frighten a hamster.
