Can my database really be full?

I can't seem to add any books without getting the following message. Can anyone advise me about what to do?

Check the disk space on the hard disk that contains the calibre library.

I've checked and made additional room. There certainly should have been enough space for several new books, but it seems to work now.

Is there a way to setup an additional Calibre library to manage a different database of books and access either when I want?

Sure. Use the "Switch/Create Library" menu item. (Click the drop-down arrow alongside the library icon on the toolbar). What I do myself, though, is to have my Calibre library on an external USB hard disk.

Many operations make use of (many) intermediate files (temp folder). I would expect that you could possibly need up to 5-10 times the file size of the current book (they might even be on different drives from your Library).

If you have not done so, run the Windows cleanup program and choose those checks/cleans on temp files (the other choices are yous)

Excellent idea. I may do that.
Where do you put the backups?
I was thinking of using an USB hard disk for backup, but using one for the library only would mean much less wear.

I have another hard disk which I use as a backup. I use the free Microsoft "Synctoy" tool to keep the two drives in sync.
