The Star Svensdotter Trilogy has been released in a single eBook (omnibus) volume that also includes this short story.

Boy, that sure went by surprisingly quickly, I guess I've grown unused to reading short stories. It was quite entertaining however. Now since I'm back in space and on Mars as well I'll read the next Burroughs Mars/Barsoom novel (4th in the Barsoom Omnibus) Thuvia, Maid of Mars.

Needed a book a month or so ago for a plane ride and picked up "Spartan Gold" by Clive Cussler which turned out to be the first book in the Fargo series. I've read the second since then, "Lost Empire" and now I'm into the third one "The Kingdom".

I also finally got around to reading an abridged version of "The Count of Monte Cristo". No wonder why this one is a classic. How did I miss this one all my life?

I finished the second book E.J. Copperman's Haunted Guesthouse series, "An Uninvited Ghost", yesterday. It's an okay cozy detective series, entertaining and a nice quick read.

Now I'm reading the fifth book in the Sebastian St. Cyr series, "What Remains of Heaven", by C.S. Harris.

All of the Stabenow short stories are quite short. And I kind of wish she'd revisit Star Svensdotter, but I suppose there's little chance of it.

Meanwhile, finished The Sharing Knife series by Lois McMaster Bujold. I'd read this on Audible some time ago, but this was my first actual read of it. And I enjoyed the entire series a great deal. An excellent read, and highly recommended.

I read Stephen King's Kindle-inspired story, "UR." It was quite enjoyable. King knows how to keep his readers reading, that is for sure. Few authors can make the pages fly like him.

Yes, I'd really like more Star! I picked up the *6 non-Shugak short stories:

Cheechako (An Alaska Short Story)
Gold Fever (An Alaska Short Story)
The Perfect Gift (An Alaska Short Story)
No Place Like Home (A Star Svensdotter Short Story)
A Woman's Work (A Mnemosynea Short Story)
Justice is a Two-edged Sword (A Mnemosynea Short Story)

with what was left of my Father's Day Gift Cards. The *6 Kate Shugak short stories are on my Amazon Wish List (there's a birthday and Christmas left this year).

*[oops! that's 4 Kate Shugak short stories and 2 Liam Campbell short stories]

This was the first book I ever read on my Kindle. And the first thing by Stephen King I read in many years. I really enjoyed it, too.

Since this is the next one on my list of her books to read (her 41st) and I just noticed it on some 'top ten' list of her novels, let's continue with detective stories and see how this one holds up to the previous 40!
An excellent detective story, told in an interesting fashion - a series of interviews and statements. It certainly does live up to the quality of earlier books. The mystery is sixteen years old when we come to it, and Hercule Poirot is up to the job of solving it. Alas, I wasn't. But the book does play fair. The clues were there and I missed them!

Next up: Net Force by Tom Clancy

I bought this way back in February 2009, when Fictionwise were still doing 100% micropay rebates. I might have read this years ago in paper.

I wouldn't recommend it. It's not actually BY Tom Clancy. It's "Tom Clancy's Net Force", by U.N. Known. It's a pretty mediocre series. A classic case of a decent author lending his name to a poor book.
