Playing with my new Samsung Galaxy S3. I had planned on getting the Note but today the new offers were available and the Note was still €145 and the S3 only €49 (before it was €349 so I hadn't even looked at it) so the choice was easily made. Because there were problems with the system I can only use wifi at the moment and I have to restart regularly to check if I can get a signal. As an apology for these problems I did get an extra charger, car charger and skin for free. I just ordered a nice case for it.

A couple of weeks ago I signed up to receive the Visit Dublin newsletter. They also had a competition to win a two night stay for two people in the posh Croke Park Hotel and to go on the Skyline tour on the Croke Park Stadium. I answered the question, never expecting anything but today I got an email telling me I won!

I already asked my sister, who was slightly upset that I went to Dublin on my own and didn't wait for her to be able to join me, to come with me.

Sad news indeed about Andy Griffith, but he had a good run. 86 is still a lot of years for most people. I'd always thought it would have been a blast to have sat down on a front porch somewhere with him, his guitar, and my ukulele. He seemed like such a pleasant person.

LOL, last night at 1am a drunken bagpipe player decided the best place to let people enjoy his music/noise was in front of our house. After half an hour my father asked him to leave, at that point there wasn't an audience except the people living in the area, he refused. After an other fifteen minutes my mother called the police but they had "other priorities" so at 2am my mother snapped and dumped a bucket of water on him. That did the trick.

Living in the city centre of a big city can never be called boring.

Good for your Mum. Most bagpipers keep on the move specifically to avoid such a thing happening

Water is so useful in these types of situations. Next door is a café and especially in summer people stand under our window to smoke (not allowed in cafés anymore) and at times they can be very noisy. Dribbling a little water down over the windowsill and then exclaiming loudly "Stupid cat, why do you always pee on the windowsill?!" gets great results, too.

Sitting outside a caff in south of Spain (32'c), sipping a pint of ice cold lager, watching a pair of RAF Tornado GR4s flying by, browsing the posts on MobiRead forums appreciating how I do't have to deal w/ feral teenagers on public transport while my Kobo Touch with the cover of Durrell's "Alexandria Quartet" sits unread in a shopping basket beside me.
