20GB and $10/GB sound incredibly bad.... I didn't realise that kind of thing existed these days, at least outside of extremely rural areas.

Unfortunately, you can't avoid this stuff by going through an independent ISP because those cable and telephone companies also own the infrastructure that the independent ISPs depend upon to deliver their services. |

We have the same ownership structure here, but thankfully no such fees. As far as I can recall I've had an unlimited connection for the past twelve years and I'd find it very hard indeed to acclimatise to anything else.

There's a major conflict of interest going on here. What needs to happen is to break these companies up. If they provide internet service, then they can't provide content. If they provide content, then they can't provide internet service. |

Of course they won't. That's why the government needs to step in and bust 'em up.

I don't think I ever said that dropbox was streaming. My point still stands what happens when a Swede visits the UK with their device which doesnt work. They can just copy the stuff on to their sd.. oh wait no they can't...

But there are more people without tablets than those with tablets. It is possible that those who don't have tablets yet (even if they can afford them) simply consider all the current tablets to be too simple.

Perhaps 50 million people will rush out to by a Windows tablet once it is available and offers them all the complexity they want, but then again perhaps not. There are more people in the world who want to do simple things than want to do complicated ones. There will always been demand for cars with a manual gearbox, but most Americans buy automatics, even though they are less efficient, because they are simpler to drive. |

So what you do is you make sure all the files in Dropbox that you need also are saved locally (the same for Evernote). |
