Afraid not "wishlist" books. However, they were on sale, and heavily discounted, and highly recommended.

Well, at least they were heavily discounted. That's something. They weren't the Young Wizard books, currently at 60% off, were they? (Only $16 for nine books!)

Well, I have to confess to falling off the wagon too. The books being selected for the book club sounded so good, I finished up getting "Crocodile on the Sandbank" and "The Necropolis Railway" for only a couple of dollars each with discount codes. But then I found one on my list ("Major Pettigrew's Last Stand") in a Book Club Favourites group of three books, costing less than buying Pettigrew as a stand-alone book. My half-Yorkshire blood couldn't resist that!

Okay, I promise not to do it again. For a while, anyway.

Everything you ever heard about the Scots being careful with their money is just as true of Yorkshire people - and probably many other parts of England too!

I should be covered off well then. I'm almost half English, and the rest, Scottish, Irish, Polish & Ukrainian... (Truly Canadian!) Some of the most frugal people in the world I think....

I was doing so well already for a while, and then... the various BooksOnBoard sales, Amazon daily deals / discounts and Kobo coupons and then the Young Wizards sale made sure that my "books bought this year" list (i.e. anything not free) is nearing 200 now. :-S

Wow. That is a lot of ebooks. And you were doing well for a while?

I think you need to take drastic action. How about: Buy no more ebooks at all for the next month, no matter how good the deal is.

(My ebook buying totals for the first half of 2010,2011 and 2012 are 207, 157 and 52. I'm definitely doing something right this year.)

I can't buy no more ebooks at all for the next month - have several long-awaited preorders coming in within that time.

(Or wouldn't those count? I mean, I've put the preorder in already; it would just be the actual arrival + getting charged for them that will happen now...)

I'm averaging $4.03 per book, though, mostly traditionally published books, so it's not as bad as it could be. It's just so hard to ignore the deals & coupons when my wishlists are growing longer, not shorter, and not knowing when the deals & coupons might stop coming...

At least I've also read about 1/4 of the books I've bought this year (with the rest of my reading being books bought last year), but yes. I definitely need to get that under control. :-/
