I will be 56 in a week and a half. The Biopsy found one sample positive out of twelve. The only reason they found it as early as they did was a kidney stone. They did a PSA test while I was being treated for a 21 X 8 mm kidney stone. And you do not have to be old to have prostate cancer. There were men being treated as young as 42 while I was in treatment. A simple quick blood test is worth it especially if they catch it early.

I can not say enough good things about it. Even the atmosphere is incredible and upbeat. Proton Therapy is the only treatment with it's own fan club. I am serious here.
I own my own business and could not afford to take two months off for treatment. I drove two hours, one way, five days a week for two months. My only side affects was an difficulty and an urgency to urinate and that did not start until the second month. Also, the long term results are as good or better than the other options. there are now 10 centers around the US and they are building a lot more. Considering that start up costs are 100 to 200 million dollars this says a lot about the results. Apache |

Until recently most people didn't know about it. And most Urologist still do not recommend it because they are surgeons first.
The actual theory was suggested in 1946. The first use was in 1954 at the Berkley Radiation Laboratory. In 1961 The Harvard Cyclotron Laboratory and Massachusetts General Hospital started collaborated to use Proton Therapy. For a long time there were only two in the US. Loma Linda California and Boston Massachusetts. Now there are 10 in the US and they are building quite a few more. Apache |

My computer got nailed with a bad virus in 2008. It took a couple months to get rid of it completely, with (free) help from the folks at Bleeping Computer (there are other tech sites that will help, too). Since then I changed my antivirus from a well-known brand (that costs $s -- and didn't work) to Avast, installed Malwarebytes (I opted to pay for Premium), installed ZoneAlarm firewall, added NoScript and Cookie Whitelist to Firefox, and installed Secunia (to check for outdated/vulnerable software).
There are 2 programs I use that have no Linux equivalents. Otherwise, I'd be running Ubuntu on my desktop like I do on my netbook. It's not just safer -- it makes more sense, for me, anyway. |
