But instead of doing this, Fictionwise was bought out by B&N who proceeded to try to turn it into a DRMed e-book store. But funny enough, it still seems like it's the multi-format (aka non-DRM) books that sell better, even though these mostly seem to be legacy books (titles that used to be on the store before they got bought out) or self-published stuff.
The publishers just may go DRM free for that reason- but going DRM free alone won't break Amazon's hold on the market.

Auletta has written the "Annals of Communications" column for The New Yorker since 1992. He is the author of ten books, including Greed and Glory on Wall Street: The Fall of The House of Lehman (1986), Three Blind Mice: How the TV Networks Lost Their Way (1991), The Highwaymen: Warriors of the Information Superhighway (1997), and World War 3.0: Microsoft and Its Enemies (2001). His book Backstory: Inside the Business of News (2003) is a collection of his columns from The New Yorker. His book, Media Man: Ted Turner’s Improbable Empire, was published in the fall of 2004. His most recent book, "Googled: The End of the World As We Know It," was published in November 2009 and will be released in paperback in October 2010.

Auletta was among the first to popularize the idea of the so-called "information superhighway" with his February 22, 1993, New Yorker profile of Barry Diller, in which he described how Diller used his Apple PowerBook to anticipate the digital future. He has profiled the leading figures and companies of the Information Age, including Bill Gates, Rupert Murdoch, AOL Time Warner, John Malone, and the New York Times. His 2001 profile of Ted Turner won a National Magazine Award.

Auletta has been named a Literary Lion by the New York Public Library. He has won numerous journalism awards, and was selected as one of the twentieth century’s top one hundred business journalists. He has served as a Pulitzer Prize juror, and for nearly two decades has been a judge of the annual Livingston Award for Young Journalists, one of the National Journalism Awards. He has twice served as a board member of International PEN, and is a trustee of The Public Theatre/New York Shakespeare Festival.

Just as any in the other categories may be "highly regarded" by their peers.

The fact remains that much of the public thinks little of jounalists, just as they think little of politicians, used car salesmen, loan sharks, prostitutes, and pawn brokers.

Justifiably so.

Actually, looking at the list, jounalists help make used car salesmen and prostitutes look pretty respectable.

I would like to apologise however...for leaving lawyers off the list. Anymore they are hard to distinguish from political ideologues.

I go for a balance of Price, Quality (not some sales hyped 'Quality or Luxury' version) and Selection.

Same product: Walmart's price will probably win if more than 2-4 percent lower.
Sears used to have (advertise) 3 qualities of some products. For most it was 'Better'. For Long run usage it was 'Best' (Like Craftsman hand tools)
Now days it is about Cheap or Luxury.

Cheap is still cheap

Luxury is just expensive

Not like you to attempt online piracy as an alternative to paying for something

Once you factor in the cost of travelling to and from the large shops, and the cost of all the food you end up throwing away because you switched from a daily local shop to a weekly big shop, you're really not saving much at all.

Walmart is one of the closest grocery stores to me.

Walmart may be a few cents cheaper, but after I add the toll for having to go in there, I go to Target instead.

The New Yorker article was interesting. Especially the part were the lead attorney in the California suit works in the same building as Amazon in Seattle.

Then you make adjustments in the groceries that you buy. I know that I will throw away fresh vegetables, so I buy frozen. I don't have a car, but I use Peapod to get my groceries, it's a time & hand saver for me. I usually order once a month.

People/businesses can always find excuses to NOT change their old ways of doing things, including blaming everything/one else for the fact that they don't want to change.

Well guess what? Tough $hit! We will simply move on without you, but don't be arrogant enough to think that YOU are going to stop the changes from happening, you will simply be run over & left behind to die while the rest of us keep on moving and changing.

Gale database/search has it now. My library has it.

Added: It seems both Philly and Brooklyn have it but I can't do the actual search.
