I think they've moved config files from the user to the system partition to avoid problems with people messing up their Kindles by accidentally deleting system files.

You're probably right, Harry, but they apparently didn't need to do so for the K4NT.
Meanwhile, I'll keep my fingers crossed that the new paradigm is not adopted for the new model(s) the rumours are predicting. |

But that caused bricked kindles from too many books. That "system partition" is the "persistent user store partition" (/dev/mmcblk0p3 mounted at /var/local) and it is only 30MB and has other large files on it too (including the system log files that keep growing). Restarting the kindle bricks it if that partition is full, which should not happen with well-written code... A lot of these "too many books" bricked kindles did NOT have jailbreak or hacks installed. This is one of the main reasons why we put so much time and research into creating the "simple debricking" Dev Corner sticky thread.

KT was my first ereader and I disliked it at first. After getting used to it, I love it. The screen is never smudgy. Only problem I have is falling asleep with it and losing my place.
I recently bought a Sony T-1 and love it, too. I like the choice of Touch or buttons. Never use the Sony store since EPub format is easily available. The Kindle store is by far the best and has many non-DRM books which I often convert. Apparently all Sony books have DRM, even those in the public domain. |

I remember when KT and K4 were just out, the build quality were criticized, K3 was more solid. How does your KT hold up after many months of use ?

I find that the Touch is much more solidly built than the Keyboard. The Keyboard has a definite flex to the plastic of the body; the Touch is absolutely rigid.
