So you see how different tastes are. I were completely happy could I switch this library functions off and use C in an converter-mode only.

I just transfer the book files from "Reading Now" to "Read in 2012" on my Kindle ereader. So far I'm at 11 according to that, but some of them were longer books and the one I'm reading currently is a trilogy of HP fan fics that I downloaded and converted in Mobipocket Creator some time back. I'm a bit more than half way through it. So book length can slow a reader down too.

There's something going around with the reading karma. I've started 8 books and finished 2. I'd have only finished the one, but I was in a book club for the Faith Hunter one. It ended up being a 3 star, but I was pretty "meh" throughout reading it.

I'm now doing a buddy read for my blog of a book I read some 20 plus years ago. I was wondering if it would hold up (Elizabeth Peters -- Borrower of the Night.) I don't remember much about the book and that helps a lot. She does characters like no other author so I'm enjoying it. But I tell you what, I keep sorting other books and nothing is striking me as very appealing. Do you think I've read all the good ones out there????

So, end of June and I read two more, it seems I will read some 40 books this year. Too lazy to add the number and page count right now. Actually I'm getting bored with this accountancy and it sort of kills the reading pleasure for me.

I virtually plowed through uninteresting criminal story recently. I hate it when I force myself to read something which is not worth reading. I finished it but I won't buy that author again. On the other hand everything I want to read is still on paper I don't want to clutter the house and the next book lined up, on paper is a 2 kg brick...

I'm in a bad reading slump. I'm finishing about one in every 10 that I start. I'm either getting pickier or grumpier. Well, probably both.

I was just wondering. First time ever I saw here at MR (back when I joined) there can be a reading goal, number of books within a year to read. I never thought of it although I was trying to write down titles before throughout a year to see how many I read. Got bored with it so I never knew in the end. Nowadays I have an excel file which I update everytime I calibrate a book when I fire off my desktop computer.

So for the first time I too know how many I read so far this year. Interestingly enough I noticed I need a few days' or a week's break before I start a new one. Sometimes the last one needs to sink in too. I genuinely admire people who have read some +80 books already in 2012, I just cannot do that and this is not how I roll

I've read 18 so far (average page count of 469 pages, I like 'em fat). Just bought a new one. On average it will probably be 21 or 22 by the end of June so theoretically I will read +/- 42 books this year. I didn't set up a goal, I'm just conducting an experiment on myself. I'm my own guinea pig. (if I set up a goal I would not keep it, be frustrated, abandon it, be discouraged and disgusted with myself)

Will be happy to hear from MR members.
I use Calibre, made a custom column to keep track of books I've read and which year I finished it. So far, my counter is stuck at 9. And 2 in the reading list. I'm a bit off my reading right now, just don't feel like it. This can pick up suddenly at which point I'll start devouring books again... (I finished 50 books last year together with a full-time job and an addiction to computer games )

I finished last book with gritted teeth. Otherwise there is nothing interesting I can think of.

I have calibre too of course, but it involves firing off my 6 year old PC which takes a while so I can't be bothered. If they invent calibre for ipad that would be a different story (not likely, lol). I don't use desktop more than once in two weeks these days.

That's the golden cages disadvantage: Don't expect free animals (or software) inside.
