Here's a comparison between the iPod nano (6th Gen) and the Sansa Clip+ from CNET's Prizefight (Oct 2010). The spoiler tag shows the winner.

Here's a value example based on current prices at Newegg
iPod Nano (8GB) - $125 Sansa Clip Zip (4GB) - $39 ($5 off sale for black ones today) Micro SD chips 32 GB - $19 (class 4, way fast enough for music, free shipping) x 4 chips (128 GB storage) Zipper holder capable of holding 16 SD chips - $8 at Amazon Total cost for Sansa $39 + $76 (4x$19) + $8 = $123 Get player + extra memory (total 132 GB - 128 + 4) + plus card case. Total cost for iPod Nano = $125 Get player + 8GB memory. When gadget dies, have left for other use. Sansa - 4 Micro SD chips (128GB) + zipper SD case iPod Nano - nothing. And most of us on this thread consider the Sansa better as a music player, head to head and ignoring the costs involved. Cheaper to start, more when you're done, and better along the way? That's why we're serious fans of Sansa...But it has all the style of a runover piece of toast... |

I use this as my Clip cases. I have a black and a blue one. They need batteries but the speakers aren't half bad. I can fit the player, Earphones and USB cable inside it.

I saw this at Costco yesterday and almost picked one up, but I decided to look into something first.
Is it possible to import playlists created in itunes (or convert them to be compatible) and will these playlists point to files located partially on internal memory and partially on SD cards? I read somewhere that on at least some Sansa models, the audio files must reside in the same location (internal memory vs SD card) as the playlist files. If the audio files aren't in the same location, they are automatically copied to it (obviously not the best solution for organizing files or maximizing storage). I really want to get the Sansa and love the expandability, but if doesn't handle this issue well, I'll probably need to get an ipod classic instead (my music library is pretty large and would need to be stored on 4 32gb cards). Thanks. Last edited by deli77; 06-24-2012 at 08:59 PM. |

![]() ![]() It's a hard shell. I usually clip it to my purse though. 4x6.5 and a little over 1 inch tall. This is my own measurement so it's not concise. |

Apparently, the Clip Zip copies files to the location of the playlists, it doesn't just move them. The original files are still there, taking up space. The Clip+ seems ideal. It's also rated better than the ipod nano on Cnet. Anyone know if Costco often has the Clip+ in stock? If not, I'll go Amazon.

Some bands allow "tapers" to record their concerts. These concerts are usually posted at Archive.org in a variety of formats, almost always including FLAC. Otherwise, you can buy music in FLAC format at small, specialty sites, but the only ones I know specialize in Electronic/Space/Ambient music.
