That being said, I could understand people who read PDFs or use the web browser wanting better screens and a faster processor. |

Best improvement would be more rugged screen less likely to break when dropped. I never worried about dropping paper back book. E-readers should be more like that.

It's not the eInk screen itself but from what I understand the glass substrate that breaks.

I think that there is a little more to it than the glass substraight breaking, since the entire screen stopped functioning when the glass substraight on my Kindle broke. (Yes, I pulled it apart to verify, and the glass was a mess even though the screen was in good shape.)
Then again, maybe you can have eInk bonded to a plastic substraight and not have to worry about breakage as much. |

I agree for a single-use device, the old technology may be good enough, but there are a couple of things in a (hypothetical) new reader for $40 more that would make me regret buying one today:
-- audiobooks (and music, but mostly audiobooks) which seems to be in the Kindle at only $99 -- a built-in light like the new nook (which I haven't seen in person so maybe an external booklight would be just as good) which is a $40 upgrade from the base nook -- a "With Offers" version available in Canada (the US version is $70 this week at Best Buy) -- aside from any of the above features, perhaps another upgrade in the eInk, which would probably drive the current prices down again =aw |

I'm fine with 6 inch, waiting for the Kobo Hover, the one that floats in front of the reader's eyes, no hands needed.

I hope they implement telepathic page flipping sensibly. I'd much rather it detect the final words of the page running through my mind, then turning the page at the right point, to having to interrupt my thoughts with: "next page."

How about a Retina display; one that turns pages based on where you are looking :P
