At the moment, I'm taking my son's home movies off the iMac and storing them on an external hard drive. His movies took up 4/5 of the iMac's hard drive. Sheesh! No wonder every time I tried to update iTunes or the system OP I got a 'not enough space to perform this operation' message.

Wondering if it's rude to text my friend and ask if they need me to look after dog Luca this weekend. Their son had a small operation last Monday and needs to take it easy for a little while and rain is predicted for this weekend so chances are they aren't going away.
Usually she lets me know on Tuesday or Wednesday if they're going away but occasionally she doesn't let me know until Friday, which is frustrating because I can't plan my weekend. Today I work until 2pm and have time to go to the supermarket, tomorrow and Saturday I work all day and I don't like having to go to the supermarket after work. I think I'll give her until noon, if I haven't heard from her by then I'll send her a message. |

A couple of days ago I was debating with myself whether to go to Birmingham or Dublin on my holiday. Just now I booked my trip for Dublin. I found a great offer to stay at the Dublin City University in the superior apartments for €175 instead of just over €400. It's a 15 minute bus ride to the city centre but it's over €200 cheaper than the cheaper hotels so for that money I can get a 7 day buscard.
I've also booked my flight and arranged my travel insurance. |

I got my Artbin Upscale 3-tray box today and I'm now figuring out what's the best and most logical way to put away all my art stuff into it. It's very handy but I wouldn't be surprised if I decided to order another one to keep my sketch stuff and watercolour/ink stuff separate.

I broke down and bought an Amazon Deal of the Day - a Fiskars StaySharp Reel Mower (http://www2.fiskars.com/Products/Yar...arp-Reel-Mower) - and assembled it today! I actually got it together with only 1 broken finger nail. Very well designed & easy to assemble.
Took it for a test drive! It really works well! I have always used push mowers, but was getting tired of sharpening the blades, and having to go back over the same area multiple times to get a close cut without jamming. This model doesn't have the blades hit a stationary bar, so they stay sharp much longer. It has a flywheel mechanism - pushing the mower spins the blades - and the spin rate increases as you keep pushing it - so you can hit the tall weeds with spinning blades which cut them down nicely. Now to name it ..... [I name all my gadgets] |

Wondering if 8.45pm is too early to curl up in bed with a big mug of tea, a good ebook and a nice dvd...With European Championship football/soccer on now there isn't much interesting on tv. Even the traditional "detective month" (always during European or World Championships) is a disappointment with series I've already seen.

OOOHHHH! I'd like that one Stitchy!
OK, I've been piloting the Fiskar reel mower over all parts of the lawn [disclaimer: my "lawn" is not all grass, but contains vast patches of weeds, crabgrass, small shrubs, unidentified green leafy stuff, etc. - we have lots of trees on our lot and the shade promotes the growth of some rather interesting stuff - but my rule is "if it's green and not poisonous, it can stay - so there are lots of different sizes & textures to cut]: 1. The Fiskar can cut anything that has a flat blade on it - regardless of its height or blade width - I even sailed through the small shrubs with it. 2. Since the blades do not strike a stationary metal plate, it is very quiet while moving. The nice side effect from this is, if you can't see your wheel marks and wonder if you've missed a section of grass, if you've already cut it - you'll hear the blades spinning above the surface of the grass - and know it's already done. 3. It can cut very wispy, feathery stuff - that the old push mower either pushed down or clogged up with. 4. It cuts the grass totally level and flat - very impressive looking after you're done. 5. It can cut weeds growing under bushes. 6. The only things it can't cut [that I've found so far] are tall thin cylindrical stems - like the central stalk in crabgrass. Those you still have to pull by hand or use a string trimmer on. But it will cut those tough leaves. It will cut stems if they are slightly "woody" in texture. 7. It assembled very easily - all you have to do is put the handle together and bolt it to the mower body. WARNING: The nuts & bolts are metric - so if you don't have a metric socket set you'll need to hand tighten the nuts with a pair of pliers - which I did - not hard at all - a total of 6 nuts to tighten. 8. It is heavy - I guesstimate ~20 pounds at least, but they did put a handy carrying handle on the mower body which allows you to pick it up and move it quite easily. It is a solidly made machine with very few plastic parts. 9. It is hard to turn - it has a 17" wheel span so you have to either plan wide turns while moving or stop and pivot it. It corners around trees & poles fairly closely. 10. The razor sharp blades are under a protective metal cowl - DO NOT touch them with your bare hands - even when they are not moving. So, I am quite pleased with the quality & performance so far. They retail for $199, but Amazon does put them on their Deal of the Day for $150 - with free shipping & no sales tax. Still trying to think of a name for it ..... [Otto the Avenger? All fall before it!]
