Indeed. You can basically gets epubs from anywhere in the web, as it is one of most-used formats.

Adobe has several flavours of ePUB DRM. Sony, Kobo, Google Play, and many other places use the Adept version. If your reader uses that (and it probably does) it's unlikely that you will be able to use the Barnes and Noble or iTunes versions, which are different. You can remove DRM that doesn't work for you, but that is not the topic at hand.

If you are new to this perhaps you should start with some books that doesn't require Adobe DRM, you can find some here in the library or at Smashwords and Gutenberg. Best of luck, and oh, welcome to MR.

Actually, with the exception of Sony, every current device/app I've tried supports B&N as well as the 'classic' DRM. And if it has ADE support (ADE preview now includes device support and B&N DRM support) you can most likely use it to side-load B&N content to devices that would not otherwise support it (again, though Sony T1 is not supported, apparently by Sony's design). It's easy enough to check by downloading a free B&N book and trying it out.

OK, so I downloaded ADE Preview and imported a B&N book into it. I then tried to open the book in ADE and was met with a screen asking me for a user name (I assume it is my B&N username) and an unlock code (per instructions, I used m CC associated with my account).

I got another error message, something about the vendor ID. What is up with that? I don't think it's easy (yet).

You will have to sideload those. Through an USB connection with your computer. Set up the Reader as USB storage.

iBooks doesn't actually count as it's not standard and even if there was no DRM, there's no way to know if the eBooks would work with ADE.

B&N is the only place that sells standard ADE compatible ePub with a different DRM.

What I don't get is a 7" screen at 800x480 resolution. That's just odd.

Giviing up!

I think I am going to give up on the video's, music etc, will leave that to the person I bought it for. I am clueless when it comes to these things, but all of your help enabled me to at least get some books on there for him, so thanks :-)
