I too think Geo Restrictions are the worst problem. Books should be available where ever you live.

But in order to add in the cover, you have to have a cover image and know how to do it. Now if it was an option on the site you buy your eBooks, fair enough. Most covers these days are some generic image.

Adding or changing them is mouse-click simple with Calibre, but removing them is considerably more complex.
PS, my 650 uses them too, but a simple listing would work at least as well.

But in that case the problem isn't the cover, it's Calibre's inability to remove them.

Not true, it most certainly takes fewer clicks to remove a cover in Calibre, than it does to add a cover.

I suspect the number of people that dislike covers are a very small minority.

Either way, you either have people removing or adding them... can't please everybody.

I actually wouldn't know since I've never tried to remove a cover in Calibre. But since his main complaint seemed to be "it's so complicated to remove them in Calibre", I thought I'd point out that how Calibre works isn't exactly the covers' fault.

A friend shows you a pirated copy of a book you just happened to buy, and it's better formatted, better edited, and free of silly OCR renderings, than the one you paid for!

The Modify ePub plugin will easily allow you to remove the covers.

A lot of times, after I'm done with an eBook, it's better formatted and free of as many errors as I've found while reading as I do fix the errors after I am done reading.

Sorry, Rob, but I ain't gonna spam the thread with a thousand posts, so here goes...

Lack of "end of chapter" feature. Poor formatting + editing. Lack of standardized, universal file format usable by any and all readers. Wonky pricing. Geo-Restrictions. DRM. Temptation to torrent. Can't lend out books easily or legally. Too many books "published" by people who shouldn't be writing for a living in any way, shape or form.

Other than that, they're awesome.
