No way to know, since I haven't had my Fire for more than a year, so can't really test it out. But I would say "purchased" is just that, and yes you should. But that's just what I think should be the case, nothing I can prove or enforce.

Fell prey to 3 from Amazon's Daily Deal today. At 99 cents each and all highly anticipated, I won't complain.

Good news! My TBR is below 330 at last! I might make my goal for this year after all — perhaps even a little more!

My wish list continues to grow, but at least I'm keeping purchases down.

Good job! I was doing pretty well on purchases, and on paring down the TBR, considering. But then I had a slip two days ago. I'd been reading the sad, but all too predictable story about the Canadian woman who perished coming down off Everest, along with three others. And it reminded me of "Into Thin Air", which my wife had read, but somehow I'd never gotten around to. And, of course, it's an expensive book, so I can't even justify it on price grounds. But I seriously wanted to understand better what's happening there, and so I just let my One-Click win. Amazon and their instant gratification have a LOT to answer for. (But it is just as good a book as my wife claimed.)

I have only bought a handful books this month ( so far), but I just ordered an Cybook Odessey from Adlibris. But, it only cost 150 dollar (plus another 50 for a cover). Which is a bargain in Sweden. ( As a reference T1 is 250ish dollar.)

I bought a new book again yesterday! The first of the year... It was a book I've had on my wishlist for a very long time (since november 2002) and yesterday, completely by accident, I found out it was finally available as Kindle book.

Congratulations on a whole five months without a purchase. That's most impressive.

So I feel bad about taking to to task over this one book. Granted it was on your wishlist, but you don't mention any kind of special offer, just that it had become available.

But perhaps it's also a book by a favourite author or in a favourite series that you have not yet read? In which case, it's fine.

(Then again, I have bought fifty ebooks in the past five months.... so perhaps I shouldn't berate you about one.)

No special offer, not a favourite author nor part of a series. But rather a book that deepens my knowledge of one of my favourite books: Shogun. It's the real story behind Shogun. But, it was not expensive and I found out not even infected by any DRM's!

(oh, I also found out that several books by Walter Farley are now also available in ebook... and that's more worrisome, as there are a lot of those!)

I've been very good lately, when I buy books I rarely spend more than a couple of bucks per book It also helps that I have a new 2 months old grand-daugther and I spend more money spoiling her than buying books for me

I just bought the new Walt Longmire Mystery by Craig Johnson. It was only on my TBR until I finished The Rise of Theodore Roosevelt. The sad thing is I read it in one day. on to the next TBR book, 1635 The Eastern Front.

I spent the rest of my birthday gift card the other day, with a balance left of 63 cents, so I shall let that mature for a while before I spend any real money using it up. I have so many DTBs waiting to be read as well as these new ebooks that I should be able to restrain myself for some time I hope.

Paper books? Or ebooks? I don't think this thread has anything to say about paper books. The storage considerations for paperbooks means that they provide their own limit.

Wow - Hawaii? I hope you had a great time.

paper books. cliche as it is, I couldn't resist the smell

my storage considerations for pbooks means i'm waaaaaaaay over my limit. i've already started making room in my closet for books by donating old clothes

yes, it was a great trip the weather was perfect. made me want to migrate there

My husband says that if we get too many more pbooks (he is as addicted as I am), we are going to have to get a shipping container to put out in the garden, fill it up with a compactus, and put our books on shelves in that. If it was equipped with decent lighting and a chair or two could be squeezed in, it might be a peaceful library!
