I tried recommending books twice- both times it failed miserably.. But, I myself am very independent in my reading habits. I'm not against suggestions but I also don't fall into the "everyone is reading this book" thing.

9 times out of 10, I stumble across my next read and I like it that way.

If someone thought I "just had to" read a book I would expect them to either loan me their copy or better yet, buy me one.

Of course that's how I feel when someone tells me how to dress (they would be then silenced when I tell them to bring their Mastercard to pick out all the clothes they think I should wear), what type of music to listen to, what type of food to eat, etc.

There's "you just gotta", and there's "Oh I just read this book and I love it so much, look it up and see if it may be your cuppa!". The latter gets me writing it down and possibly looking, the latter makes my eyes glaze over.
