This is a very small issue, but I like having page counts from the Count Pages plugin in addition to the word counts we get automatically. To do this, I have to click the Count Pages plugin manually. Would it be possible to have an option to run the Count Pages plugin automatically similarly to the Reading List and Generate Cover plugins? I realize this is really not a high-priority issue, so it might not be worth spending development time on.

@ChrisBradford - I have no problems with either of those in plugin, CLI or web service versions of FFDL.
Any chance you have an old version? There were some fixes related to characters like that a month ago... |

@TrulyInnovative - I've added it to the wish list. But since I'm still resolving issues about covers, it's pretty low priority.

However, it is a reasonable assumption that FFDL shouldn't blow away your custom covers. I'll plan to get it to honor that. |

v1.5.26 posted with:
New Site: www.dokuga.com by Ida. New Option: Under [txt] wrap_width to control word wrap width in text output. In personal.ini, you can add a section: Code:
[txt] ## Width to word wrap text output. 0 indicates no wrapping. wrap_width: 78 As usual, there may be a delay before calibre notices the new version. You can get the latest by going in and telling calibre to install it again. Jim |

If I understand correctly (and based on my sample size of two stories), updating a fanfic clears all bookmarks from the EPUB file. I don't suppose there's a way around it? It would be useful if you could retain your position in the fanfic when you update it.

Time for another beta test!
The big change in this one is an option to *not* overwrite/remove the cover *inside* the epub on update. It's handled like 'update calibre metadata'--it's on the add/update dialog every time and there's a config option to pick the default. This is so people who make custom covers and then push them inside the epubs don't get shafted on every story update. However, the cover code is rather clunky and complex, so please test it out. I plan to redo it more logically some day, but this should (hopefully) fix the problem for Firedancer885 and others for now. Also included, just because they got stacked in:
New: Now copied META-INF/calibre_bookmarks.txt forward across update as well. Also fixes Add New problem. New: Using the Add New dialog, you can now specify a chapter range to download. This is done by adding the chapter range in [] after the URL, like so: http://www.siye.co.uk/siye/viewstory.php?sid=129565[1,2] There's actually four forms you can use: Explicit begin and end: http://www.siye.co.uk/siye/viewstory.php?sid=129565[1,2] Begin specified, end assumed to be end of story: http://www.siye.co.uk/siye/viewstory.php?sid=129565[2,] End specified, begin assumed to be start of story: http://www.siye.co.uk/siye/viewstory.php?sid=129565[,2] One chapter only: http://www.siye.co.uk/siye/viewstory.php?sid=129565[2] Only works on new or overwrite, not on update. Updates to epubs with missing beginning chapters will result in bad stories. This is a power-user feature for those willing to put their fingers a bit closer to the buzz saw. Also includes Ida's fixes for dokuga.com. Last edited by JimmXinu; 08-27-2012 at 05:03 PM. Reason: Remove obsolete beta versions |

If you are referring to additional files written inside the epub by a reader (such as the calibre reader), yes it does.
We talk about 'updating the epub', but in reality, FFDL harvests what it recognizes as valid chapters (and images) from the old epub and uses them as input to generate a completely new epub. Anything it doesn't explicitly copy over is lost. It's very similar to the issue with keeping custom covers. In the beta version posted above, I trained FFDL to recognize and keep covers, but that's it so far. If we can confirm that your problem is caused by a file inside the epub being discarded (and identify the file), I can make FFDL carry it forward. |

Then, in early 1.5.x (~3months ago?), when epub update was re-written for images-in-story support, it was lost. Oops. I'll get that back in, but it may not be right away. |

I checked the web version and the CLI version, and they were able to handle the problem stories just fine. I'm going to re-install Calibre from scratch and see if that might fix my problem. Last edited by ChrisBradford; 05-31-2012 at 09:40 AM. |

@ChrisBradford - What's your OS? I've only run calibre on Win7. Maybe it's an OS difference? Or regional? Do you run in US English or something else?

![]() Opps. Spoke too early. Tried to add a new book and got this. Spoiler:
The update option still works. The beginning of the second line is "Error: Unknown error:". I'm using Calibre in hungarian. Last edited by Firedancer885; 05-31-2012 at 12:10 PM. |

I use Linux, and I do run using US English. I will be testing to see if a fresh install of Calibre might fix the issue.

I've updated the beta file on this post.
New: Now copied META-INF/calibre_bookmarks.txt forward across update as well. Also fixes Add New problem. |
