I got my T1 last week, and I love it so far. It is shiny and red. And I have named her Giselle.

In typical me style, I didn't read the manual. Tonight I had some problems with my e-reader (insert sad face here) where it randomly started zooming through pages and then the touch screen stopped responding. I let it go to sleep and then I managed to get it turned off. A few moments alone with myself and Google got me the information I need. It seems there is a firmware update. I also read somewhere that the first time you plug your reader in, it should prompt you to install some software, which mine didn't. So... first and foremost, how do I update the firmware? (Keeping in mind I don't have reliable access to my manual at the moment) And second, can I install this phantom software on more than one computer? I use a desktop and a laptop, and I would like to be able to sync my reader to both if possible. Can I get the software from somewhere other than plugging the reader in? Please, a complete newbie?

The software is just the Sony Reader desktop app. You can download it from Sony's website here and put it on up to 6 or so desktop/laptops, IIRC.

The firmware update you can have applied via the Sony Reader app or you can do it separately using a package you download from their website. Hope this helps, and glad you're enjoying your reader. |

You mean a original, unmodified Firmware Update? Don't worry, this is not really compilcate and very easy to handle.

Visit the Sony Homepage in your language or UK, go under Support or Help and choose the device typ and then your model. (in our case eBook Reader >> Sony PRS-T1) Now you've access to all necessary things for your Sony PRS-T1. (like driver, manuals, technical details) Under the Tab Download you found the Reader-Software and Firmware-Updates. There you can choose one of them, I've linked the current updates here: For PC | http://www.sony.de/support/de/produc...PC_v1004_12210 For MAC | http://www.sony.de/support/de/produc...AC_v1004_12210 Don't worry, the only important thing is to have full charged battery before you update. But this hint and more details you will find in the Firmware-Update pages too. (like alternative update methode without PC/MAC, over the "HELP>Check Updates"-Menu) |

Success! The firmware is updating! I downloaded the software and plugged my reader in, and right away it prompted me for the update.

Install Calibre ebook management system and forget about the Sony software, unless you need to wifi something. Don'y worry, the Sony stuff will just sit there till you really need it - wifi being the only reason I can think of - happily alongside Calibre. Easy to use, simple, versatile, no registering hassle etc..., and free and secure. Teamed up with MR, and you're fully equipped for the rigours of ereadery !

My computer had ADE on it from before. I downloaded a grand total of ONE library book that has since expired. The downside is it linked my computer to an old Adobe ID. I don't want my Reader associated with that old ID. Now the Reader app is asking me: This computer has been authorized with Adobe ID ***. Do you want to authorize this computer with your Adobe ID? Books previously purchased from the Reader Store may no longer be readable after authorizing this computer with a different Adobe ID. (Yes or No) And I don't understand how to answer. I want my computer to conform to my Reader's ID, forgetting the old ID from before. Any help is greatly appreciated. Also -- I have the Calibre install file already

Deauthorize the computer associated with the old Adobe ID and reathorize it with the Adobe ID that you assigned to your reader.

I hope the initial poster doesn't mind, but I have a similar question regarding an existing ADE account.

![]() I have a Kobo and my purchases show up in my ADE library [I then download them into my Calibre library and never use the ADE for anything else] I am getting a Sony PRST1 and want to keep my Kobo information as I will be passing that onto my Mom and need to manage her library for her. Will I have problems getting ADE to work with 2 separate devices? What, if anything, will I have to do? Thank you in advance for your replies. ![]() vanillabean, welcome to MBR, I've only been here a few months but the people are so helpful.
