Several of well-known classic romance author Barbara Cartland's vintage backlist titles, now e-printed as part of the "Pink Collection", are available free at Kobo (and 1 thus far also at Amazon), courtesy of BarbaraCartland.com. May show up elsewhere, since this seems intended to be a multi-store promotion.

The Marquis of Kexley seems to have everything a girl could want – wealth, good looks, intelligence, athletic prowess – and a title. A loving but strict father, the Earl has his own ideas about the way two young men should be educated and they could not be further away from the new regime that Tasia has installed since her arrival.

Will Tasia be able to hide out until she has proved a point to her father? Will her success as a tutor challenge the Earls opinions of women? As the clouds loom ever closer Tasia faces the biggest decisions of her life - to conform or stand up for her beliefs and hold out for true love.

For Germany, only the first (The Marquis is Trapped) is free, all the others cost what I would guess is the usual price.

ETA: All are only available at full price. I checked a few bookstores, no reductions there either. Amazon, however, offer a collection of four novels at $2.06:

For all of them. Logged in, logged out (even tried a UK account). I even tried clicking Buy Now (which sometimes changes the price, although it usually goes higher, rather than lower).

I must need to try some other state or country to see the free price, but it's kind of a pain to set that up at Kobo.

1) No, you can't gift free books from Kobo, any more than you can from Amazon.

2) At this point, I'd write this off as a glitch freebie. They're no longer showing free in search on Kobo and I wouldn't expect the Amazon one to last throughout the day, if this was one of the BarbaraCartland.com people noticing a pricing error (although Kobo is reputedly much slower to respond than this).
