Yes, a LOT. Thank god for smart phones or I'd never have a chance to read. |

OK, I have to change my answer. I started reading on my phone BUT, only at the bus stop at night when it's dark and I can't read well on my Sony. I still agree with what I said but it doesn't matter if the battery drains since I'm only doing it for 15 minutes or less. And I can put up with the small screen for that amount of time.

Having started on a Tungsten T3, and a Windows CE phone, I have no problem reading on my Blackberry or Android phones. (Even at my advanced age - progressive lenses are wonderful!) I do have my Sony PRS300, and my sig other has her Kobo touch, but they need backlight, and I like reading in the dark...go figure.

I bought my first smartphone specifically in order to read on it, it being so much more portable than the PRS-950. If I hadn't wanted to read on it, I would have bought the simplest phone I could find instead.

My phone is my device of last resort for everything except phone calls and texting (which I do rarely). It's an awful device that stays charged for a day or two, fits in my pocket, and has connectivity just about everywhere.

I'm not sure what to pick. I probably read 30 minutes once a week on my smartphone.

I used to read on my HTC Desire, then the Kindle app got bloated and the Desire is kind of weak already on memory so I deleted the app.
The other day I got a Samsung Galaxy Note, lots of memory and a magnificent screen. I've already downloaded the Kindle app and it no longer feels bloated or slow. So I might just begin reading on it again, this time of the year though it doesn't really get dark enough to require a backlit screen. |

I do when it's all I have with me. I read using Aldiko on my Droid Incredible 2. I also use Aldiko Sync to sync my books across my phone and tablets. Makes things incredibly easy.

I read on my iPod Touch, does that count? It's the same size as a smartphone. I don't use it at home, though, where I prefer my eInk devices, but the iPod is always in my purse to read on the tram or when I have to wait at the doctor's. Before I had it, I used to carry a paperback around.

No.
I have my Kindle on me everywhere I go. I do also have my phone on me always, but I like to keep that for phone usage and internet. I prefer reading on a larger display such as my Kindle and the battery life on an e-reader kicks a smart phone's a$$ every day of the week. Besides, the main reason why I enjoy my Kindle is that the screen is as big as reading an actual book. No smart phone can offer that. I have a friend who only reads via his iPhone. So, in conclusion, my Kindle is larger, always at hand, no glare and doesn't waste the battery as fast. |
