Great book. Scary and very compelling. And gives you a very good insight into just what happened this last weekend.

It's true that it had some OCR errors in it. (kid/lad for example.) But I'm afraid I just ignored them rather than making notes and reporting them.

It's fun with Elves and magic in a modern-day (at time of writing) setting. The heros' angst is occasionally a little irritating, but not enough to spoil things.

Next up: The Star Beast by Robert A. Heinlein

I'm sure I must have read this before, but not for many years.

I'm curious to know if anyone is reading the new Barsoom book, "Under the Moons of Mars."

I'm thinking about buying it.

I just finished reading the Vorkosigan Series, including Shards of Honor and Barrayar.
I am now again reading all of the Jessie Stone series by Robert Parker. I have not read the new one finished by Michael Brandman, Killing the Blues. Then in September Fool Me Twice also by Michael Brandman is due out. I want to see if he does as good a job with Jessie Stone as Ace Atkins did with Spenser in Lullaby. I thought Ace Atkins did a superb job with Spenser and I will continue to read them.
After I finish with these I will start the Mistborn series that has been on my TBR list for a while.

Lullaby is next on my TBR . Really looking forward to it, despite it not being a "real" Robert B. Parker. Glad to hear you liked it.

I have read Killing the Blues, which was not vintage Parker, IMO, but was still good, and I will definitely follow it up with Fool Me Twice when it comes out.

Do you mean the Everest book? That was what I thought Mel meant, but not what the link points to.

I haven't read the whole book, just a short extract, but that was certainly scary and compelling.

Yes, I meant the Everest book. Duh. I didn't follow the link, and didn't realize anyone else was using that title. The Jon Krakauer book is truly frightening and compelling. And is an object lesson for today as we see 4 dead already, and the season just starting. Plus we have traffic jams on the ascent that are causing people to run out of oxygen before or during the descent.

I found it on the official Repairman Jack forum. The only thing I'll have to do is read all the shorts first that are not part of the Secret Histories.

Hmm, I think I've only read about four of the books in that list.
