You used the test button in Sharing over the Net? That uses your 'Local Host' (127.0.0.1) address
Your(PC) firewall may be blocking the port 8080. You need to set it to 'allow' calibre-server.exe on Port 8080 (or whatever port you choose, they all must match). |

On the post before my last one, Peter had a link to my URL. When I clicked on it, it went right to Calibre Content from my pc. Yes, I also had done it through the Calibre site on test server. I checked the programs listed on windows firewall, and Calibre is not listed. I already tried turning the firewall off and it did not solve the issue. I turned it back on.

Can you use that URL in the browser (http://192.168.1.105:8080/) on your tablet? If you cannot, then something basic is broken: either your tablet is not connecting to your local WIFI LAN or something (a firewall) is blocking it from accessing the calibre content server on your machine. Notes:
- your tablet must be connected to your home WIFI, not to some telephone data connection, and it must have an IP address that begins with 192.168.1. I don't know what you mean by "connects as a guest". - your PC must still have that IP address (192.168.1.105). Check it, because the address can sometimes change. Best would be to tell your router to always give the same IP address to your PC. This option will be somewhere in the router's configuration options. - The firewall on your PC must permit incoming connections to calibre. Do I understand correctly that you have a netbook in addition to the PC and the tablet? If so, can the netbook see the content server using the above URL? If the tablet can connect with the browser, then try the URL http://192.168.1.105:8080/opds in aldiko. |

Charles. No, I cannot use the URL in the browser of the tablet. I keep getting a data connectivity problem box that comes up. I've tried going into Windows and completely turning off the firewall (calibre isn't listed under the programs on my firewall), then going back into Aldiko and clicking on the URL again - nothing. My main home internet connection is Comcast. When I set my router up about a year ago, the main computer is the PC and linked with the router is my netbook (hope this makes sense). By connecting as a guest, I mean, for example, you bring your laptop to my house and you want to use my internet. Where it show on your computer to connect to a wireless network, the name of mine would show on your screen and you would have to log into it with the username and password (I have it password protected). It then says your are logged into the wifi connection as a guest. Every time I check the PC's URL number it's stayed the same. When I checked the router properties, it does have a different URL number with a port number after it. Think I should try using that number and change the port number to:8080? Also, if I understand you correctly (I am definately not a techie), you say the firewall on my PC must permit incoming connections to Calibre. Do I need to add Calibre to the list of programs in the firewall and tell it to allow?
Sorry for the stupid questions. Oh, when I bypass the 4G on the tablet and turn on the wifi for my home connection, I can get into any other website I want. Just trying to cover all the issues (I hope). Luanne |

@ Luanne
Your router seems to have advanced features mine doesn't ![]() Guest access way only allow Outside Access (surf and Mail), a kind of DMZ. You may need to be a normal ![]() What IP does your Tablet get? Can you open a command prompt and Ping 192.168.1.105 (and not get timed out)? |

Ducks - I was beginning to think that being logged in a guest was the issue. I think it's time to call Linksys and see how I add the tablet to the network. I'm assuming the PC is not recognizing the Tablet.
Here comes the non techie part of me. Where do I find the IP for the Tablet? Open a command prompt from where? ![]() Luanne |

Luanne, can you see calibre from your netbook?
I agree with theducks -- your setup seems much more "advanced" then most. ![]() When you connect the tablet to your wifi network, what program is asking for the password? Is it a browser, or is it the wifi connector itself? If the process is: - turn on wifi - bring up a browser - attempt to go to some web site - get asked for a username & password - then get to the web site then the browser is probably authenticating directly with the router. This won't happen when you are talking to calibre. The fact that the router asks for a user name implies strongly that this is what is happening, because normal wifi authentication uses only a password. I have no idea how to turn this "feature" off. The "URL number" (the IP address) to use is the one reported by ipconfig on your main PC. The router will have a different one (usually ending in .1), as will your netbook. These other IP addresses aren't useful. You can get your tablet's IP address by going to settings, wifi, and tapping on the connected network. You should get some data about the connection, such as speed and (ta da) the IP address. |

Chaley - When I turned wifi on on my tablet for the first time, it found my named connection. Because I have it secured so everyone in the neighborhood can't get onto it, it asked me for my password. When I entered it, it bypassed my 4G connection and connected to my wifi connection. The bottom right hand side on my home screen says the name of my router and connected and guest next to it and all the connection bars are green. I can then click on the browser icon and get into any website I choose. (I've probably just confused the issue. I just remembered since I clicked on my wifi connection, it did only ask for the password and logged me in as guest.)
I have the IP address from my PC and also the netbook. I also found the IP for the router. I will look for the tablet's IP address when I get home this afternoon. Thank you for all the help. It's much appreciated. My head is spinning. LOL |

What model router? Once we know that it's easier to read up on it and see what features might be interfering.

The "guest" thing is puzzling. I'm connecting to a comcast router from a Galaxy Tab 10.1, and it shows me the router name and that I am connected. It doesn't say anything about "guest." I wonder if the guest designation has something to do with your Windows Homegroup, rather than the router itself.
At the risk of repeating what you've already told us...have you tried connecting to Calibre from your tablet -- not from Aldiko, but from a browser on your tablet? If you can do that, then there's a problem in your setup in Aldiko. If you can't do that, then the problem is something else. |

I'm finally into my network as a "real" person, not as a guest. Unfortunately, I have to leave for work and don't have time to play around with it again. My router is a Linksys E2000 bought from Staples. I called Linksys and I got the router password. Entered into the correct logging into my network and I'm in, not as a guest, but hooked to the other two computers. I think that might have been the problem, but we'll see when I try tomorrow.

One more question. Do I have to click on each book invidually, or is there a way of getting all the books into Alkido at one time? |
