The Amazon boards are really hard to search. You have look through pages and pages to try and find an answer. I have to resort to a Google site search to find older posts. And because the same questions are asked so many times, I have a text file where I keep answers to the most frequently questions. I just paste the answer in and customize it if I need to.

That sounds like a great Idea, I never thought of copying and pasting my research answers.

build your own FAQ and then load it on your Kindle. Maybe even post it or upload it as a book.

That's why I started with the text file, trying to collect the most Frequently Asked Questions on the Amazon boards, to upload as a book but there are several offerings already. Now, I just use the file to make answering questions easier.

Ah well .... better to post here than at Amazon then. I mean really .... who's going to know more about the product than those of us who tinker with it daily.

I am working on transferring all of my recipies (complete with shopping lists) onto my Kindle. Nothing better than having everything handy at the grocery store when I suddenly decide to make a homemade strawberry cheesecake (which I have to do today by the way).

I'm going to see if there isn't some way I can fix up check boxes by the items so that I can check them off at the store. Eh ... probably more work than it is worth.

What I have done in the past to keep track of stuff is Make a nice comprehensive list of say books I have/want, What games my kids have etc that way when I am out shopping I can easily keep from buying a duplicate, Most of the time it is just a little list on my cell phone, Ocne Apple gets mobile me up and running later this month I wont have to worry about it, My computer and phone will stay synced.

How about filling in the FAQ on our wiki?

Is there a practice page on the wiki? I'd hate to mess anything up while getting acquainted with the software.

You can always start a new page and just cut and paste from an existing page to a new page. This way you can just append stuff using the formatting example on the page. It is really pretty easy. There are small help pages on the wiki. If you start editing and then check at the bottom of the page you will see a help link that will show in a new window on your browser. Just let me know if you need any help or any changes to the help pages. You can't delete your scratch page but if you let me know I will delete it for you. Please login first.

When editing existing pages, there is a "Show preview" button at the bottom of the page. So nothing is permanent until you hit "Save page". Also, there is a history tab and any changes can be unwound.

Oh yes .... I've got a spreadsheet of all of my movies and such that I sync in with my phone .... and that's exactly why. There is nothing worse than purchasing a film and then finding you already own it.

However ... the reason I am putting all my recipes and stuff on my Kindle is because ... well, sometimes I'm at the store and I think of something I would like to cook, and I'm just certain I remembered everything that went into it .... and then I get home (which is a half an hour drive) only to find I'm missing one little thing.

And, by the time I finish with my recipe book, it's going to be a bit large for my cell phone ... in addition to the fact that it would be a pain in the ass to try and cook something while reading the instructions off my cell. Much better to have the book mounted in my book holder with the large font on.

Do you also have an inventory of your pantry on the device? How else do you know if you have the ingredients?

I don't keep all that much in my pantry. Just a three month supply of cat and dog food, same amount of kitty litter, lots of toilet tissue and paper towels, oh and laundry detergent.

I seldom cook .... thus, most of the time, even if I had something in the fridge, it would likely not be fresh anymore. So, whenever I cook, I just assume that I'm going to toss out whatever is in the pantry. And, really, it's more baking than cooking.

I don't do it often because I live by myself. My baked goods have won awards ... but I'm not even going to try to eat an entire cheesecake by myself. So, now I bake whenever there is a neighborhood party (mostly those of us who live in the valley ... most of the folks up on the ridge are snobs of the first order).

I don't even keep the circuit breakers on for half of the appliances in the kitchen (I mean, really ... who the hell needs two stoves, two refridgerators, a separate ice maker .... it's a bit much, you know??)

Man .... I can really over think an answer!!
