How to avoid whits space when displaying images?
Hi,
i have a book with a lot of pictures in up to 400px in height. If such an image does not fit on the actual page, the rest of the page is left blank and the picture is shown on the next page. Is there any trick to display a picture without having so much white space on the previous page? It is not important that the picture is exactly at the behinning or end of certain sentence. The text can flow before the picture. Instead of Code:
+----------+ +----------+ |...............| |XXXXXXXX| |...............| |XXXXXXXX| |...............| |XXXXXXXX| |...............| |XXXXXXXX| | | |XXXXXXXX| | | |XXXXXXXX| | | |XXXXXXXX| | | |..............| | | |..............| +----------+ +----------+ Code:
+----------+ +----------+ |...............| |XXXXXXXX| |...............| |XXXXXXXX| |...............| |XXXXXXXX| |...............| |XXXXXXXX| |...............| |XXXXXXXX| |...............| |XXXXXXXX| |...............| |XXXXXXXX| |...............| |..............| |...............| |..............| +----------+ +----------+ |

I'm afraid ePub does not support floating elements. You could use the "float" CSS property, but it doesn't work as you want, it will only place text around the figure, but not move the figure up or down the text flow.

I'm afraid that there isnt a solution... HTML was made for "endless" pages accessing the hidden content by scrolling, not by flipping pages. eBook Readers do have fixed pages without being able to scroll...
float does only help with left and right, but not with top or bottom... As i said i only have little hope that there is a solution available |

No solution to my knowledge. I usually end up with placing the images (when possible) at the beginning of a chapter.
