So I am at a loss for this one. I do recall the calling care, with the image of the chess piece knight on it, but not the hotel name. Maybe it was a fictional hotel, or one that no longer exists? So much of the SF waterfront was redeveloped once the shipping industry moved across the Bay. I am very curious as to the answer.

Hotel Carlton. In the opening shot of each show (after the shot of the holster and gun pointing at you) you see the street scene outside the hotel looking down towards the water. The hotels' name is quite prominent.
