This 901 on eBay comes from a company that says they ship worldwide.

In Switzerland, you can already buy the eee 900; for the 901, I don't have any information (the 901 includes some small upgrades, like the Intel Atom CPU). But when I looked at various YouTube reviews, the Acer Aspire One seems like the nicer choice compared to the 901. Designwise and also featurewise. It's also rumored to come out in Germany (which is just an hour away from me) in a week or two. Here is a review of the 900 vs. the Asipire One (in German):

And here is another video comparing the Asus 901 with the Acer Aspire One and the MSI Wind (the one I am also considering, which has the slightly bigger screen, but doesn't come out in Germany before August):

Hmmm thanks for the link. They are claiming to sell it with a 6 cells battery. That's neat, since most netbooks to be released next are going to be offered with a smaller 3 cells battery due to battery shortage.

YIPPPPPPPPPPIE!

I just ordered the MSI Wind and I was told that it'll be most likely shipped to me next Wednesday. I wanted the white one, but only black was available. Still better than pink for me...

And, heh, even free shipping which is rare here in Switzerland.

Well, I hope it has damage insurance. There is nothing worse than expecting a nice MSI subnotebook and then seeing it all banged up when you get it. It would be very said if all you had was "broken Wind".

......I'll get back to work now.

Congratulations. I viewed the videos you had attached and also looked up the device at Amazon to see the specs. One question remains -- what is the screen resolution? I saw the diagonal size of 10 inches, but is the resolution any better than 1024x600 that the ASUS sports?

And, I'm only in the market for a Linux system, and I didn't see any Linux pre-loads.

Same resolution (1024x600), but bigger screen. So slightly fewer DPI (but more screen estate is nice especially when you also want to watch a movie on it from time to time).

They don't ship it yet with Linux preinstalled; only Windows XP Home. I am planning to install Ubuntu anyways. Some dudes even managed to hack Mac OS on it -- and it runs pretty nicely except that WiFi doesn't work yet and it's obviously not quite legal:

Hehehe, eXpansys (like the guy from the vid) has it actually ready for preorder here in Switzerland. But no, luckily I went with a different store.

MSI Wind
We didn't have particularly high hopes for the MSI Wind when we first heard about it -- primarily because MSI's laptops have always seemed a bit... meh, compared to more established brands. But forget all that, we've damn-near fallen in love with the Wind -- and for good reason.

Should I buy it?
Yeah. Sell a kidney if you have to. Hell, sell both. It would have been all too easy for MSI to deliver a cheap, nasty Eee knockoff, but the Wind really is something special. Along with the Acer Aspire One and our final contestant, this is a netbook you should definitely keep an eye on.
I like the last two sentences of the article:

Quote:
Many have argued it's strayed too far from the Eee's core principles of being small and cheap, but if you subscribe to that belief, you're probably also going blind and suffering the early symptoms of arthritis from typing on a small, cramped keyboard. Give us 10 inches, or give us death!

Where are all these teeny tiny computers coming from. I just ran across this one. Never heard of it before. Expensive.

A little update: After waiting over one month for the MSI Wind, I switched my order to the Asus Eee 1000H, which is supposed to arrive here next week. Unlike the MSI, the Asus has a big battery lasting twice as long, for the same overall price.

Heh, I had no choice! The Wind is still "on order"...

The Asus on the other hand... it's on the way! I should get it by tomorrow.
