"Wire Paladin, San Francisco."

But in the years between 1870-1880 San Francisco had a population of almost 200,000 people. You can't just sent a telegram to a city with a guy's name on it. You need an address, right?

So... what was the name of the hotel where Paladin lived?

Oh, so this is a TV general knowledge question. I was racking my brain over it as one of those cryptic type clues like the John Underhill one

I guess it must be a US only show, so I'll look it up just to satisfy my curiosity.

Bilbo, many of my UK friends have said that they watched the show. It must have aired for a period of time in the UK, but I have no idea of how long. Even the author, Stephen Leather, used the 'have gun, will travel' line in one of his books.

However, in case this proves out to be to localized, and as it's my bedtime, please feel free to post another question. I'll post the answer to this one in about 8 hours.
