Unhappy Calibre 0.8.51 puts Books as Personal Doc in my KF

Hi there!

Yesterday, with Calibre 0.8.50, I converted few books from EPUB to MOBI and AZW3 and move all them but one to my Kindle Fire, and all books are shown at 'Books' section.

Today I tried to move the last one to the Kindle Fire, but as soon as I started Calibre it showed me that a new version was available. I updated Calibre to 0.8.51 and then moved the last book to the Kindle Fire, but it is shown at Documents tab.

I've tried to reconvert it, ensuring that the [PDOC] tag is not on the MOBI options (AZW3 options has no place for the tag). I've tried using the MOBI and the AZW3 formats, but always the same: the book is stored as a Personal Documet.

Has anybody seen that too? Any idea? Am I doing anything wrong?

Thanks a lot!

I don't know if it will work on AZW3's, but the beta version of the [GUI Plugin] Quality Check checks for the two things that are known to cause MOBI's to end up in Docs. You need both EBOK and an asin field in the EXTH header.

Thanks for the answer, but:

1. has changed the way Calibre do the conversion to MOBI or AZW3 from 0.8.5.0 to 0.8.5.1?

2. how can I pt the EBOK tag in the AZW3 if ther is no place for that at optios page? what is "asin field"?

Thanks a lot!

That's really annoying ...

Actually the first group of books I converted (using 0.8.50) were sent to my wife's Kindle Fire, and all them are stored under 'books' section.

Then I tried to store one of them on my own Kindle Fire, but now using 0.8.51, and as said, it is stored as 'Personal Doc'.

Now I've tried to re-send one of the books (converted with 0.8.50) to my wife's KF ...and I get it stored as a Personal Doc, so I think the problem is not with the conversions but with the transfer to the Kindle File (btw, I'm using firmware 6.3.1 on both devices).

Any idea? If not at this moment ... how can I downgrade to Calibre 0.8.50? I use the Linux release.

Thanks a lot!
