The B&N Nook Color is an eReader, by any sensible definition, as are the JetBook eReaders. | |

I can't read that at work so unless someone wants to do a cut and paste I cannot comment. Dueling stories, not a surprise. |

Absolutely it does. And so far I much prefer eInk to LCD. I've only got an iPad 1 though, so it's possible that the iPad 3 would change that (as long as the minimum backlight brightness has been lowered from "staring into the sun"). Andrew |

IS that it? I have not touched the brightness on my IPad 3 and have not found it to be an issue.

Went I went from iPad1 to iPad3 I found that the maximum brightness was a little bit brighter, and the minimum quite substantially darker.

I have an e-ink Kindle Keyboard and two tablets. Most of the time I read books on the Kindle, but sometimes it's nice to see features within a book in color. Even though book covers and illustrations are rendered in grey on the e-ink devices, many of the book covers and illustrations are actually in color, which you can see using the Kindle app on tablets. The tablets don't bother my eyes, but I know that some people are sensitive to that. For me, the biggest drawback to reading on a tablet is that there can be a lot of glare, so it's not so great for reading outdoors. |

Not interested in color eInk; for novels, a B&W eInk device would be better; for magazines and illustrated books, a tablet would be better. It's a compromise both ways, sort of a jack of all trades, master of none.
