Talking Stop blaming technology......

I think you'll find it's the Dust Bunnies under the bed - vacuum them up and you'll have no further trouble.

( It's the ancient Celtic Year of the Lint, see, they're having revivalist meetings every night ....... )

Yeah, saw that after I'd written mine. Uncanny how similar they were. :-)

BTW, mine was also intended to be double blind by the use of a teenager as the third party who would naturally avoid talking to the parents to do the shuffling rather than the spouse who might give some clues.

There is always that, but there isn't anything inherent to e-Ink itself that would make it unique to any other gadget. The panel itself saves power because current only needs to flow through it during a refresh. When you put the device to sleep, the only current flowing is to keep the RAM 'fresh'. The EM generated by a sleeping reader should actually be the same or less than your average digital alarm clock unless the reader woke up to do something over WiFi.

Reminds me of a coworker who said that she got rid of the WiFi router at her house because it was making her sick. I asked her if she ever had any symptoms at work, and she said no, at which point I pointed to the WiFi repeater antenna RIGHT ABOVE HER DESK!

Wifi sensitivity is the latest make-believe plague sweeping the world. Now if you'll excuse me, I have to be at my homeopath in 15 minutes so I can get my Morgellions remedy. My allergies are acting up too, so I may also have to stop by my chiropractor on the way home to get that sorted out.

I was responding to the "I've never experienced it, so it can't be true" attitude that some have, and didn't mean for it to be taken as a comment on this particular case. I, too, am skeptical that the OP is affected by the EM emissions of the device, for the reasons you've given, and would need to see proof to be convinced. I just don't take the fact that most people aren't affected as proof that it can't happen.

Won't disagree there. Anecdotal evidence isn't terribly useful, and I like the suggestions of double-blind testing posted earlier in the thread. Science, it works (when the result is measurable).

People are weird, sleep is weird, do whatever works for you. No need to make up woo-woo theories as to why it works. Even if it has no real basis in science, it works for you.
Insomnia is a bitch. I should know.

I can confirm this. If I use my PRS-350 before I sleep and leave it on the bed, I would often wake up several times in the middle of the night. If I have it on the nightstand, my sleep is a lot more peaceful. Granted, that could be because the device keeps digging into my ribs while I'm sleeping if I leave it on the bed.

(3) try again, this time try to get past page 2.
(4) Give up
(5) Open Ulysses & start reading.

So I wanted to know if someone else of you that own an e-ink reader notice the same thing.
Btw I often sleep with the mobile phone in the bed room and never had any kind of problem like that.
I have the same problem with blondes.
