whew, finally got positive values for my bliss and energy now to keep them that way

haven't reported it yet. i think it happened when i clicked on 'redeem'. nothing happened the 1st time so i clicked again. it went through and when i looked there were 2 seperate coupons in my email.

I levelled up to twelve and a whack (Rogue agent) would have wiped out my military since it was based on a percentage of bliss. I currently have 3 times more bliss than military. I've gone negative energy and will be surging military for a while. *no* bliss-gifts please, I only pass them on, like the plague they are

I *think* you can bleed off bliss by running at an energy deficit for a few cycles; I'm trying to test that. (This doesn't seem to cut into population growth, so we know what they're doing in the dark when they can't run their holovision sets.)

I don't know what's going on. I had Energy -1.5K, bliss 69K at the end of the cycle. At the beginning of the new cycle Energy was the same, Bliss 67K. Another cycle ended with Energy +5.4K and in the beginning of the next one it was -25K ! Bliss loss was again roughly 2K. And Pop does not change without my help (at least those few times when I wrote it down).

Pop is supposed to grow 2% per cycle on its own, unless food or energy are low enough that it stops/and or you get famine/hit by a pop-lowering plague whack.

There's another whack which actually subtracts from your bliss if it hits (interplanetary overlord, I think it was named). Perhaps you were hit by that overnight.

I'm considering getting a cluster of Level 2 Generic City Cores to surge for Pop when I need it; 2 surge for 800 pop is definitely the best bargain available. I could place them every-other-square on an outside strip and surround them with Bliss and Food assets.

Or Bliss and Bucks? Because as useful as Bucks are, I expect to get them from cycle changes, not surges, and 400 Bucks from a surge is now useless to me, where the automatic food production would keep me from falling behind. (Not entirely, but a single surge of other food assets covers me for a while.)

In that case, with those numbers it sounds like it could be some sort of game bug. Maybe ask at Baen's Bar if it's intended behaviour or a glitch like the double redemption coupons.

For the amount of space they take up (and considering that one essentially surrounds them with unneeded-production suppressor assets), I'd actually consider picking a different type of city core, upgrading it all the way, and then surrounding it with enough high-income Bliss and Pop to bring the Pop down to whatever number you'd feel comfortable adding on a semi-regular basis.

That way Energy and Food etc. are all provided by the surges, enough to cover the Pop increase, though it might take a bit of math to figure out the best balance.

Right now, at level 10, 2 lvl-2 Generic City Cores would get me 1600 Pop and 800 energy for 4 Surge points (and whatever other resources I don't stifle); another 40 surge points gets me enough energy out of the Thorium Reactors to cover all that pop, leaving me with 6 points to increase whatever else I need to catch up on--military to cover for whacks, food when that runs low, extra pop if I'm running too high on bliss, etc.

Upgrading a core means it costs 10 to surge it, and I don't have the option of getting small bits at a time. I'd love the option of partial upgrades, but I don't want to have to use 1/5 of my surge points on Population. Also, I doubt the surge value goes up in direct multiples every level--I don't think a Gen City Core would be 4000 pop at level 10 (not that I would want that). I think I'd like 800-1600 pop per cycle, and Gen City Core is the cheapest way to get them (well, aside from gifts, which, sure, I'd be happy for, but I don't think I can plan on getting 750-1500 worth of pop gifts every cycle).

I have 2 Antimatter Reactor Towns plus the ordinal Factory Farm. I have the antimatter at level ten when I surge them I surround with assets that I need the least. I try to surge one city core for three cycles, then on the forth one surge what ever need the most--normal cycle surge 4 energy and 1 city. This keeps food, population, energy and military in balance.

Well, for comparison purposes, I have a Factory Farm that started out at level 2 from my drop package with 800 Food and 400 everything else, which is upgraded to Level 7 and gives me 2800 food and 1400 everything else. At Level 5, IIRC it gave me 2000 Food and 1000 everything else.

So a similar Pop-oriented city core could well end up with a 4000 yield at Level 10.

But aside from that, if you think you've got all the numbers worked out, good luck with it.
