I just came to the forum, because my Kindle spontaenously restarted....I suspected I was getting an update, but when it restarted, didn't see an update in place, and a whole mess of covers AND favorites icons turned grey...I hadn't had but one or two turn grey since getting 6.3, and they went away just by flipping the screen! I can't believe this next update wouldn't address such a visible issue! (But I do love that parental controls are improved!) |

The parental controls turning on with the new update is a known issue and should be fixed within the next couple of days according to CS. It was suggested to me that if we wanted a choice regarding updates and being able to choose automatic updates or not a email to kindle-feedback@amazon.com might help.

Glad you got it fixed. I am having one really stressful day so I wont be touching my KF till bedtime. I really don't want to wrestle with missing covers right now.

I'm more of a Casino slots person. I think with the Parental Controls feature going whacky on people that we'll see another update quicker than the last one. They can't let something like that go, especially when Mother's Day is around the corner and they're advertising the KF as a gift.

The two things I want changed are 1, I do not need a constant notification present to tell me controls are enabled. The lock symbol is fine but notifications are supposed to be for stuff that needs attention THEN THEY GO AWAY!!! And 2, I do not want a factory reset link right on the parental control password prompt. That actually the LAST thing I want my curious 9 yr old to be presented with.

Just to jump into the gray covers fray - my Fire updated itself this morning and all covers on the carousel were gray. I started reading and the covers reappeared within an hour or so, without clearing any data or rebooting. Just a couple of time-out sleeps and wake-ups as I was reading.

I got the update after plugging in my Fire to charge and then shutting it down completely to charge overnight. When I cold started it the next day it rebooted and installed the updates over the auir. I believe I left the wifi on instead of turning it off as I usually do when I warm turn it off at night to charge. I didnt know there was an update this time until it started rebooting and told me it was installing. Will report on any changes. My biggest complaint is the autocorrect keyboard not being able to be turned off even though you have the option to in there. |

No white book covers on my Fire after the 6.3.1 update. Either on the carousel or on the books tab The only white covers I have are on personal docs I had uploaded to the Amazon personal docs site, which are not books but just text or pdf files All my books are the free ones Ive gotten from Amazon and other free sites I dont sideload books like Blossom does so that might be the major contributor. |

I'm having issues with links on Silk. It seems I have to hit it several times before it takes me to the linked page. Also after this update if you clear the Kindle Data you will need to reboot the Kindle Fire to get your Carousel back. It will look empty till you do. |
