I've discovered the "Time Vortex" whack!
Or, less fun, I've discovered a bug that keeps my account frozen. I had the game open at work, closed that, came home, opened browser... cycle timer is frozen at 00:00:00. I've put a note up at Baen's Bar, and thought I'd mention it here too. No idea what's causing this. Cookie verification from switching computers & browsers? (I was on Opera; am now on Firefox.) Or maybe I got gifted a Tardis and it's stuck between timezones until I buy a Sonic Screwdriver asset, only that hasn't been coded in yet? Followup: Counter is still apparently working (I got new surge points when I should have); I just don't have a visible counter. Hmm. Last edited by Elfwreck; 05-02-2012 at 10:37 PM. Does anyone know what "Obsolescence: 1" means on some of the assets? Last edited by Crusader; 05-03-2012 at 02:37 AM. |

Some assets are worth to be constantly upgraded, but some I let be and some (upgraded) I regretfully sold. IIRC this problem appeared around level 10 or 9 - just when I felt happy with my new reactors. Baen doesn't make it easy, all that calculating makes my brain steam. PS. Thank you all for the bliss, I could still use some more. Only regret that I now don't have many gifts to send your way, as I've been redeeming them. Last edited by travger; 05-03-2012 at 04:08 AM. Thank you so much! This really helped my people out of the hole. Wild celebrations on the streets, everyone's drunk and gathering strength for the next push.
Bliss, anyone? |

You've had all I've got for now. I'l see what next cycle brings...
My problem is Energy - I'm always low on this. Any suggestions for the best strategy? I keep buying Energy Assets, but they don't deliver much, and then take a while to recharge. |

At level 4, Radiation Shields give you nearly as good a yield as L1 Open Pit Mines per surge point and take up less space and provide you with considerably more Bucks per cycle income. Plus when upgraded to level 5, the yield readily beats the mines. Stack them all along your Quick Charge squares so you can surge them every 8 hours instead of 16.
Also, invest in an Antimatter Reactor citycore, if your political alignment lets you buy it. Surround it with enough high-cycle-income-producing Pop and Bliss-producing assets so that it won't surge those, and you'll get 1000 Energy and 500 of everything else for only 4 surge points. If you stick them in the two right-hand side corners, then you'll be able to maximize your yield while minimizing how much clear space you need when you upgrade them. If you already have a Factory Town citycore as part of your original drop package, try to put the Antimatter core near it so that it can share overlapped assets. It's also got a pretty good yield of stuff per surge point, as long as you keep Population and Bliss production suppressed. I'm currently at 97,000+ Energy with 4000 Pop from mostly doing this. |

^ That sounds like excellent advice, thanks. I just have to work out what it all means...(I'm still a bit confused with the surrounding and surging stuff).

@ Orlok:
Thanks, I'm good now. Will be spreading bliss myself. Energy is always the problem, but at level 9 you at least can get thorium Reactor. Till then it's Reactor Town+energy, maybe some bucks resource to pay for the others... ATDrake beat me ![]() Maybe it's better to limit the city cores at first. I got 8x8 grid in the middle of level 5, so the Town I placed initially in the corner is not there anymore (grid grows to the right and bottom - you'll have 2 more quick charge squares). Cores can be one square apart, so that the asset between them inhibits both. Last edited by travger; 05-03-2012 at 06:13 AM. |

Each asset placed next to a City Core subtracts half that asset's regular surge yield from the Core. For example, if you have a News Source which usually provides 600 Bliss, and you put it next to the Antimatter Town Core which provides 1000 Energy/500 other, then the core will only produce 200 Bliss, and you'll need another asset which normally produces at least 400 Bliss to get the Antimatter yield down to 0 Bliss. |

Thanks, that helps. I understand about keeping the Population down (though Pop = cash, so you also want it to grow, but within the limits of your other resources), but why would you want to limit Bliss?
