PS - I wonder if there is a point in joining more than 20 people? At the rate the price keeps raising, I don't see being able to reach 30...

Each of your cities has more than three neighbors. Assuming none of those are drop package assets you are trying to get rid of, sell all but three that touch each one (the bottom core has 9 neighbors, for example).

For the three you keep, the SURGE asset for those three must be different (food, bucks, energy, for example).

Then, of the three remaining, upgrade them to your current level.

Last, check the core - you should NOW (and only now) have an UPGRADE button, providing you have enough bucks to actually pay for the upgrade. If you don't, then wait a turn to see if more bucks will fix the problem.

Yup, too many neighbours near to your core is the problem.

Handy tip: Placing a core in a corner works great and doesn't use up extra squares. You can only ever place 3 assets next to it.

why not?

around lev 15 you make 1 million per cycle.

apart from that - there are people who joined ME too and paid well for it.
I'wouldnt like to let 'em down. for every one with less than 20 who joined me and doesn't get rejoined has to get a 21 for his book...

I'm squeezing my population and energygrowth hard now to make this joins possible. luckily upgrading the thorium helps too. so all can profit

Well, maybe by that level amount to join does not seem so enormous...

I'm not sure I follow you here. As far as I can make out, size of your own alliance doesn't matter at all, only people who you have joined. For example I have joined 20 people, 14 among them are allies. I have 23 allies, 10 of them joined by me. Second alliance book came as soon as I joined 20th person.
And I can't agree that they paid well, especially if they are still only starting the game.
Joining is so expensive now that I rather get new names added to the short list. Makes it easier to keep an eye out for progress and to find when I go looking where to place the gifts.

Of course, if I'm mistaken, I'll start joining back ASAP.

AFAIR I needed a rejoin to complete the book coupon percentage.

Looks like there is a limit on the number of gifts you can hold onto before you stop receving any more.

I've tried sending to several people and get the following message:

"Gifting failed. Receiver has reached his limit of total unreedemed and ungiven gifts."

I think it might be a good start to stop hoarding gifts - Transfer-only and My Hoard this applies to.

I tried to send a bit of money to ATDrake but he's at his limit, I suspect others here are as well.

Baen's Bar says there's supposed to be a limit of 100 things in the personal hoard, but probably they might have tweaked this to prevent too much hoarding.

I'm just going to randomly redistribute stuff to PB players who've sent me stuff and MR members who need things.

Anyone who's got a particular deficit/need for Bliss, Military, Food, or Population, let me know, because those are things I'm not using.

I'm starting to get a bit low on food, so if you want to send some food my way (Bristol Bob), I'll get that money out to you.

I just sent you all the Food I could easily find (Baen really need to do colour borders for the type of gift like they do for the asset squares; I kept re-opening old stuff with clicks because it's hard to tell apart).

It turns out I have very little Population to bestow, but Bliss is the next big thing to get rid of if anyone needs it, and I'll be sending out random Military and 100 All gifts later if no one needs it now.

One reason why I keep my gift list small is constant clicking to needed to open the gift; also I'm too lazy to scroll all the time.

@ATDrake - of course you have little population, at level 3 you'll have trouble to support them. I at least sent you only bucks, none of my people.

I don't understand the need for bliss-gifts. I always have plenty bliss. At level 9 it seems to be easy to run out of military though, so now I redeem those as fast as I can. I even surge to get military!

Now with Thoriums and about 150K bucks per cycle I don't seem to run out of energy anymore though I started increasing the population beyond the 2% natural growth when at level 7. I've never been in the red on anything but energy.

Oh, and there's a buyable level ten asset now =)
